They are just managing the board by position. Otherwise we end up like a few years ago with 18 tight ends. People saying, no they can play tight end, running back, split end. To which I asked, then what about the recruits we signed for running back and split end.....crickets.
Phillips, regardless of what is said by coaches, he aint moving inside LB. 252 lbs as a junior in high school? Sounds like they absolutely love Barber, regardless of his ranking. Russell can play anywhere. And it sounds like Demnota is really leaning. So you end up with two edges and two LBs. And Pink even mentioned Kaleb Harris could easily end up putting on a few pounds and becoming a LB.
I think Shaw is a victim of this new era in recruiting, you wait too long and you end up with a slot but not the first choice school. Course the flip side are these fellas committing just to "hold a spot" while they shop around.

Seems like freeze likes a certain number of spots at each position and sticks to those numbers. Shaw is a fine player. I think he would be a fine player at AU. Hell he may end up at AU. But for now I don’t think we are pursuing him much at all. Has he even visited for a game?

If he visited for a game he wasn’t spotted. He doesn’t really do interviews so it’s possible I guess he’s been places. But if so, nobody knows

What have they done to get knocked down lol? I would love to ask that question. I've heard that the 247 guys automatically bounce Auburn 5stars and 4 stars based on the fact that so many of our higher rated players didn't pan out. Apparently they think it reflects poorly on their ability to rate players , so they bump our guys down to be safe. Alabama has had tons of failed 5 stars, but enough success to get a constant bump. Perry and Reddick deserve to be 5* and they know that.

I remember Joe Tessitore calling the game against Arkansas in maybe 2016 and he took one to the house on the first play. (“This Stove is RED HOT!!!)

Did the on3 composite have them at 5 star before?
247 still has Perry at 5 star (they are the only ones who do). Riddick is not 5 star on any of them right now.
