We have not beaten either of those teams in 4 years. And only once is like 6 years. What makes you think all the sudden we are ready to compete at that level? Other than just guessing and pulling things out of your arse.
Our recruiting is improving but at the same time, theirs is still doing better.

Auburn isnt on that kinda of level Lanier. We are on par with the likes of Miss St and ole miss now. Well, they beat us last year so maybe just a tad bit behind those mIss schools.

We can compete, it will take time. They didn't become juggernauts under Saban and Smart in a single offseason. This class should be a good jumping off point, then we start winning more on the field, the classes improve. Especially if our NIL keeps up with everyone. It's been a long, miserable fricking decade outside of a few things. But if people can't see we are finally pointed in the right direction, on several levels, for the first time in a while now they never will. I'm choosing to, cautiously, enjoy the feeling of approaching the corner we need to turn.

I would hope year 2 is better than year 1. Year 3 we shouldn't head into any game knowing we will lose anymore. That would be my hope.

I (reluctantly) agree with Chex. We’ve had to beat Saban without a talent advantage since he’s been there and we’ve done it as much, or if not more, as anyone.
Obviously it would be nice if we recruited as well and didn’t have to shite our pants every weekend but the current class is definitely enough, even if it’s not perfect.
At some point recruiting numbers don’t matter. There’s a threshold that you reach where anything is possible and that’s really what we’re looking for

I don’t know if we’re there, but this is the type of class, repeatedly, that makes us as dangerous as anyone. Everything beyond that helps us enter into that sustainable elite level which we should also aspire to.
There’s a threshold you need to achieve in order to have a reasonable chance, and there’s another that ensure you’re nearly bulletproof. We’ve got two different conversations going in this thread without acknowledging the differences
