Let me know when we decide that we want to compete with our other rival.

That team had 7 losses. I need more.

Fine. We are fricked. Auburn will not be able to compete with bama and uga for years to come. No matter how many top 15 recruiting classes we get, we will always fail. We are a middle of the pack program. We will never be good enough. We are the little bros of our rivals. War Eagle?

You want it, you got it board.

You just got all of the "we are an 8-4 program" fans hard as a rock.

Actually we could But that’s irrelevant anyways. Harsin’s class is not the standard we judge on.

Freeze missing out on these 5 star recruits is just signs of things to come. Auburn is all hat no cattle.

Tamp those expectations down men! We SUCK!

I don’t know how you don’t see that’s the opposite of the point being made by the people you’re arguing with.

Or were arguing with before every just decided to let you get it all out.

My only thought on all this is that we are where we are at the moment.

We may be able to give Alabama or Georgia a close game but the talent gap is so great it takes a special team or some very fortunate circumstances for that to happen.

However, we should probably be looking at our trajectory. Who knows how will we look on the field? However our recruiting trajectory is definitely improving.

I get tired of the "our rivals are beating us" narrative. No shite. Our rivals are beating everyone in the country right now. We are not going to overcome that in a season. Hell we will never out recruit those two, but we can recruit well enough to have a puncher's chance each year.

We can literally overcome that in ONE single season. Beat UGA at home, then beat Bama at home. THIS YEAR

I think the consensus in this thread (even including Stidham) has us ending up somewhere in the 8-13 range with this class. Which if we’re being honest the difference between 8 & 13 is not some monstrous jump.

I think the only disagreement is whether 8-13 is good enough.

Some are saying yes. We’re showing a good sign of improvement. We’ll continue improving and get where we need to be.

The others are saying recruiting is alot better but it’s still not good enough. We need to be Top 5 to get where we want to be. So anything that’s not too 5 is still a failure.

Auburn always recruits top 15 for the most part. When we land in the top 10 we win championships.

Its science.

I guess my point is I never really recall us being top 5 consistently in recruiting at any point in time.

I would think 8-13 MIGHT be good enough if we get at least one or two game changing players. With hindsight, I will always regret how much I underestimated the value of a guy like Nick Marshall.

I also wonder how much the expanding play off helps/hurts. A hot team with 2 losses could at least have a shot of winning the championship in the future, but I don't know how those selections will be made with what is happening with the PAC.

People want to be consistently good.

We haven’t really done that since Dye. Maybe an argument for 2004-2006 but that’s still a short period.

Doesn’t mean we can’t. That’s kind of the point and is the part I don’t think Chex is getting about their argument.

That is great point, but what qualifies as consistently good? I think we are all used to the roller coaster and I get the appeal of getting off of it.

That being said, the highs are pretty damn fun.

Consistently good enough to win a championship
