Can the russian maffia intimidate the REC for us?

We got jobbed last night too. Not spoiled grapes- two very questionable calls that kept bama’s drive alive.

If we score 45 points a game, it won't matter. They can call back one, or two, TD's but they can't erase 5 or 6.
The SEC has to get the shitty reffing under control. I hope it's a priority in the off-season.
I still think it's more likely that the refs are mediocre at their job than it is they are intentionally cheating. I know I'm in the minority amongst Auburn fans in that belief.
Like Josh Pate says, I don't think they're cheating, but then shite happens like it did during the UGA and OU games, and I don't have an explanation...

Last night’s PI call and roughing the passer were so soft. Incompetence even at real speeds.

Were all those off-sides warranted, or were there some false starts that the refs gave auburn the penalty on?

Hint, if a defensive crosses the LOS, which causes an offensive lineman to jump…….I’ll throw the flag all day on the defensive player.
We are at a time out. Defensive Linebacker came over and was kidding about flags. I laughed and told him”35 flags in the first half alone? How about you try this? Stay out of the damned neutral zone?”
4 flags in the second half.

On one of the critical late game plays, I think their last TD, their LT has Faulk's facemask and has bent him almost completely over. Faulk comes up making the throw a flag gesture to no avail.

We definitely played sloppy. My only point is we got some calls against us or there were some no calls that definitely hindered us.
I guess upon technical review the roughing the passer was technically correct- but as has been the case this season- while we shot ourselves in the foot- we also were on the losing side of some calls against us that coukd have easily been no calls.

New mentality also means abandoning this pathetic whining about the reffing after every game. We did not lose the IB because of the refs. If you want to talk about non-calls: Wright basically wrapped up and tackled a DL on our final drive a play or two before Coleman's fumble. I was shocked that it wasn't called holding.

I tend to agree for the most part. This is a second job/hobby for them, and many are older and probably don't see as well as they used to.
But I do feel like there are some implicit biases to give the benefit of the doubt to the team that has the better long term outcome based on the results of the game.
And as I've said before our officials shouldn't have ties to any SEC school. For example, in the IB, none of the officials could have ties to Auburn or Bama, but they could still be a UGA alum. That seems unfair that they could influence the game to keep from having UGA having to rematch Bama in the SECCG, or make a couple of calls that go against AU because of the DSOR.

As a fan I will B&M about the refs in the moment.
I am not a ref or an expert on every rule especially in the heat of the moment. I am, by nature and admission a fan. As a fan, it is my role to be fanatical- not always rational about how I perceive things in real time or in the immediate aftermath. Doesn’t make me soft. Makes me a fan.
After re-watching I can concede the point on several of the calls I originally took issue with, doesn’t mean I don’t still wish they didn’t get called! Ha.

Roughing the passer, hit below the knees is a new rule. First year out of committee.

Yeah, I read that in the other thread. Didn’t know that change until yesterday.

I threw a rule book at an SEC Official years ago…”Next time you go off half cocked, giving advice, read the rule book first. Your buddy almost got charged with a felony. RULE CHANGE….Two Sheriff’s Deputies on their way to cuff him and arrest him. I called them off.
Not only a rule change starting the game…..but a law change trying to keep the public’s hands off officials…..that included coaches.

To me the worst part of officiating is the non calls. Flags can be debated and they definitely have an impact on drives, but when you know the refs are going to keep the flags in their pockets, you’re incentivized to do more. If a ref isn’t going to call holding, why wouldn’t you hold every play? It’s like playing with house money.

I agree- the inconsistency or my perception of inconsistency of calls bugs me at all levels of the sport. I know it is a human process- and the humans involved are imperfect- but yes, I agree. It makes everyone crazy.
