I really don't care for any of the BBQ in Auburn. If I have to pick a place, it would be M&E's.

This. Pretty average places IMO.

Mike&Ed's but I really don't have too much of a preference. I'll eat at all three though I don't eat BBQ often in Auburn. I'm with AUtigerNOLA in that they are all really average. Growing up close to Big Bob's, Dreamland, Gibson's in HSV, Lawlers, etc. spoiled me.

Their ribs aren't overrated. White bread and sauce as an appetizer is so simple yet absolutely brilliant.

Their BBQ pork sucks

But for real, the Country's on Broadway over in Columbus is my favorite around here by far.

Though I'm not sure if that's just the thought of the lemon meringue pie talking or not.

I find myself in Columbus a good bit, so that's still "around here" for me

But yeah, not gonna drive all the way over there just to eat at Country's.

Only been there a couple of times. Good stuff, but I'm rarely in Columbus.

Dreamland is really good. Saws in Homewood if y'all are ever out there, is one of the best I've been at.

If you like over salted and poorly cooked BBQ, then yes.

Saws is very good. Rusty's out in Leeds is one of my favorites. Best dry rub ribs I've ever had.

If you get anything other than ribs at Dreamland you're doing it wrong.

Ribs are terrible there too. Sauce is only redeeming factor they have. The cook them way too fast at way too high of temperatures. Buddy use to work there and gave me the low down.

You can go up to a worker and ask how they cook their ribs. It isn't a secret. Apparently they do something right because the majority of people love the ribs. Believe it or not there is more than one way to cook a good rack.

Difference of opinion. Yours isn't anymore right than mine

Wrong.

No, but seriously, when he was there they would only cook their ribs for 2-3 hours, even though they claim to cook them all day. You dont cook ribs at high temps for a short amount of time, that is the one rule to bbq. Rusty's out in Leeds smokes theirs 24 hours, and it shows. People go there for the sauce and the hype more than anything. The ribs are tough and over salted. Ribs are the one food I am snobbish about, and dreamland ribs are probably the most overrated ribs I've ever had.

I've never seen them claim to cook them all day.. the fact that they openly tell people how to cook them (fast and hotter temp) should be obvious that they don't cook them all day.

I'm done arguing. Agree to disagree.

BBQ wars.

Anyway what's the board's review of the seafood place at the old hooters joint? Worthy of including on the list?

Haven't made it yet but a buddy of mine went last weekend at gave it very high reviews. Said the parking lot was packed and the food was great and brought to the table quickly
