I honestly wont mind but I just hope recruiting stays top notch. I think he could do a decent job. Homer or not whatever IDGAF. The melt would be awesome to see too.

AJC Ga Tech blog ran a story about Roof meeting with Miles last year about DC position which ultimately went to Steele.

Regardless of who is hired I wonder where Lance Thompson fits into all this.

No shite, but the opinions on this board are more often than not reflected in the majority of Auburn fans, and if the majority of Auburn fans are happy or unhappy with the program, that will influence the decisions of those who are in charge.

I hope Auburn fans won't be contempt bringing back Roof, Rhoads, or Gibbs because it'll only reinforce this habit of relying on previous assistants. I'd like to see the program branch out and not have a POV that is tunnel-visioned on previous Auburn coaches or coaches with a heavy SEC history.

Roof was a decent DC and I would be OK with hiring him. This appears to be the 4 candidates. Rank them...

1a)Manny Diaz
1b)Ted Roof
1c)Todd Grantham

4) Tom Allen

Paul Rhoades is a good DC. I don't know where you get that he's not.

He was only here a year, and we just saw him go from mediocre to terrible at Iowa State. He's probably on par with Ellis Johnson.

The majority of your posts are one line that are just cynical immature reactions that contribute absolutely nothing to the discussion.

Whether people agree with my outlook or not, I don't care, but I'm certainly willing to read others' opinions on the matter.

I agree. Good defenses under Tuberville were a given just like bad defenses are under Malzahn. Rhodes was likely meaningless to the 2008 D.

It'd be just like Auburn to make a hire like that though. Rehire the second straight former Auburn DC to fail as HC at Iowa State

Tubs tried twice to hire him. So he has talent. I trust Tubs eye. Think about the number of his OC/DC's that are head coaches now.

One bottom line or takeaway is...

...what does it say if we can't pull the DC at USF to Auburn?

We should've hired Don Brown before Michigan did...

Mike Elko is another name I wouldn't mind showing some interest in...

If you were to choose between becoming DC at one of the top 3 college football programs of all time, under an HC who is considered one of the top minds in the sport, or the same job at AU in its current condition, what would you do?

I was thinking of a scenario where we would contact him and have him signed before Michigan had a chance to show any interest.
