Yeah but we had one of the best offenses in the country that year. Oh wait...

Bama played like trash to Auburn and then to Ohio State. I'm not sure the analogy works to be honest.

The point is that defenses struggle against really good offenses.

ETA: Let me preface that I'm not saying he's a sure thing by any means. I think he could be solid and what he did with their defense is impressive considering where they were. I just think it's ridiculous to go all chicken little over a bowl game against an extremely potent offense.

We have not boasted a good defense in a decade so I'm just going to detach my emotions from this hire from the start. Allen running a 4-2-5 and doing horrible in the bowl is only making it easier on me. Yall won't hear another peep out of me on this hire.

He probably already told his players he was leaving and they were super depressed and didn't play defense

I like how everyone hates the 4-2-5 all of the sudden, but wants us to play more like Ole Miss on defense.

When have I ever said anything about playing like Ole Miss? If any team, I'd rather play like Bama.

fricking old man Ellis ring a bell? When we only needed a defense with a pulse against Bama last year, it was Ellis's 4-2-5 defense that shitted it's pants.

That's pretty much word for word what A&M fans were saying about Chavis.

I would prefer to stick with a 4-3 since that has been working this season and we've improved, but Allen looks like a solid coach and maybe we'll be more multiple than 4-2-5.

Don't worry, guys. Scott Loeffler coached Tom Brady. We'll be fine. Ellis Johnson had that one good year, our D will be great. I am sure hiring a guy that gave up 45 points to Western fricking Kentucky will be fine. He won't face better coaching and talent in the SEC.

I swear, our fans are the worst fans at times. On here, Twitter, we just have fans that can't be pleased.

He won't have better players than his one year at usf. Where he improved their D greatly..

We still might not even hire the guy

WKU probably has more talent than USF and averaged like 48 points a game. You guys really don't understand how bad their defense was when he got there.

USF doesn't have a great secondary, personnel wise. Been covering up shortcomings all year. WKU has a great offense
