Schiano would be another one or two year fix, IMO. No loss there. OSU can handle that at the moment. We need to find stability.

That's my thing with Ruffin. I can't see him going to another "joke of college football," because ECU is his alma mater. Ruffin could be a home run hire with some stability. He could create an identity here, and players love him.

No, but somebody on here really doesn't like the idea of Ruffin McNeill. I don't think they have any reasons though. We're out of options.

I wonder if he will come up on AU's radar....there has been some speculation Harbaugh might look at Ruffin to replace DJ Durkin. He would be a great hire for Auburn. He is a great coach, players love him, and he has a lot of integrity.

Somebody here hates McNeill. I don't think it's an Auburn fan.

I'm looking at Allen and he wouldn't be a bad hire at all.

Until this year when he took the DC position at UCF, he's been with Hugh Freeze since Lambuth (2008-2009), except when went to Drake for a year, the rejoined Freeze at Arkansas State in 2011 and was at OM from 2012-2014.

I think Freeze has turned into a fine coach and if Allen is good enough for Freeze, I don't see why AU doesn't take a chance. Wouldn't need to blow our load on a salary for him and get to avoid going with a Lolley or Martinez.

Over the last 20 years, the teams for which Allen has been a member of the coaching staff have posted a combined record of 208-57 (.785). That record includes stops at seven different schools in the states of Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa, Arkansas and Mississippi.

Allen is a 4-2-5 guy. If that's what we want, we need to just rehire EJ since he is the guru of the 4-2-5.

Ole Miss runs a 4-2-5 and has a damn good D. It wasn't scheme with Johnson. It was recruiting and coaching them up that was his problem.

Other teams used the star position against us in recruiting and it killed us with LB prospects we wanted. Do not want

Allen was the name floating around FSU boards as Kelly's replacement if he left for AU....and most were considering Allen an upgrade over Kelly.

Would still rather have McNeill.

We need to hire someone that has a similar defense to Muschamp. We can't keep changing schemes..we will never fricking improve.

I guess AU could do worse. Allen has over 20 years experience and coached for Hugh Freeze (who, of course, is Gus's close friend). And Allen has plenty of experience coaching on teams that run tempo, which is a plus. Neither EJ or Champ had experience in the tempo area.

I don't expect a splash hire at this point, so I am sort of at the "bring whoever" point right now.

Tend to agree with this, you can't keep changing schemes on these guys.

Could we? Seems like a bottom of the barrel hire. Going to turn over the D to a guy with 1 year of playcalling experience. Guess Lolley will be back to screw up the secondary.

Lack of connections seem to be a major issue with Gus. He had to call that moron High Freeze to get a lead on a DC. He also filled the Coaching staff with also rans from Auburn when he was here before. Damn near everyone he hired was an assistant to whomever Chizik had at the position.
