We can gamble on an up and comer and hope they are the next Elite coach or get someone who has won 10 wins consistently at MIZZOU is the SEC.
We gambled twice with un proven coaches (Freeze had 1 fricking 10 win season in the SEC) so we if we want to gamble again lets go.
I am ok with an up and comer if we go that route, but I'm sick of dreading football season and a 10 win season seems like a pipe dream at this point.

If we hire another dud, we may get kicked out of the SEC.

Who cares about BIG wins, Auburn is desperate for any wins at this point.
We have been through a rough stretch of only winning 6 or less for half a decade but a coach that is trying and not retarded will breeze through 6. We can still win championships.

How does Eli Drinkwitz not have a big boy win? In 2023 they beat #7 Ohio State in their Bowl game. OHIO STATE. They also beat #13 Tennessee that season, and #15 Kansas State with Will Howard at QB (the guy who led OSU to the Championship a year later).

Ohio State was down bad. Miserable.
But Okay they got three wins.

I'm tired of mfs trying to put a ceiling on this program. Way too many Sad Susans around here who love to drop trou everytime daddy bama and daddy georgia are in town . Have some self respect good lord.
Amen. Drink literally called into Deboer's conference call scared of a stupid black hoodie. Deboer only wears that because he is fat and his daughter knows a slimming color when she sees one.

Drink doesnt have to play bama and uga every year and he has 0 impressive wins. Losing to bama and georgia every year will get old quick with him just like it did with gus.
The guy has maybe 1 impressive win at mizzou. Beating the arkansas' and miss states' every year moves the needle 0 for me.
We have to change the interview process and actually vet guys in detail and go get the guy we think can put himself into the conversation of top 3 coaches in the SEC. Drink isn't that now and I dont think moving to Auburn turns him into that.
A quick GPT prompt came up with this:
Short answer: Eli (Eli?ah) Drinkwitz has 4 wins over AP-ranked opponents while head coach at Missouri.
Here are the four (opponent — their AP ranking at game time — date — source):
1. #17 LSU — Oct 10, 2020 — Missouri 45, LSU 41.
2. #15 Kansas State — Sep 16, 2023 — Missouri 30, Kansas State 27. (61-yard Mevis FG as time expired.)
3. #23 Kentucky — Oct 14, 2023 — Missouri 38, Kentucky 21. (Kentucky listed #23/#24 that week.)
4. #7 Ohio State — Dec 29, 2023 — Cotton Bowl (NY6) — Missouri 14, Ohio State, 3
Take it with a grain of salt bc i havent fact checked but when the research starts out like this..... yikes

Exactly. Using D. Craig to negatively recruit against AU by calling it a racist program should make Jimbo persona non gratia in Lee County for the next 50 years.

Also why the frick would we hire James Franklin? He wasn't good enough for Penn state why is he good enough for us?
My biggest worry about Franklin (other than he was average at PSU outside of last year) is if we do interview him and not hire him, do we have another Turner Gill situation where the national media spin is he didn't get the job because he's black?
Posted on 11/3/25 at 3:20 pm to PJinAtl
I didn't even realize Franklin was black.

A few mfs on here would love to strip it off of him and get their fingers stuck in his fat rolls after they beat us by 17 in a few weeks.
Posted on 11/3/25 at 3:22 pm to The_SwAUggford
Did penn state fire him just cause he's black? Idk

Regarding Drink, the complaints are he wins the games he’s supposed to. That would be a 9-10 win season every year. Knowing you’ll get better talent than Missouri, you will beat UGA and Bama every other year or so, which would be our playoff year.
Holy crap I’d sign up for that every day, it’s actually similar (maybe better) than the PD era I grew up with.

If we wanna beat bama and uga every year, we gotta pay a coach like 15m/yr to come here and steal them away from a top program.

Your logic makes little sense.
The only guys who are going to have multiple wins over teams like Bama, Georgia, or anyone else you would consider to be "big boy" are going to be the coaches who already coach at those schools.
So what are we doing here? Interviewing Kirby Smart, Kalen DeBoer, and Marcus Freeman?
Actually, Billy Napier beat #7 Utah, #11 Tennessee, #8 Ole Miss, and #9 Texas so I guess this is your BIG GAME HIRE!! We did it guys, we found our big whale hunter!
What's funny is that I think that Lane Kiffin probably only has one true "big boy win" (beating #3 Georgia last year) so he really wouldn't even fit your hiring criteria either

Let's.
Drinkwitz already makes 9 million and he aint coming here for 9 million.

Fun fact.
Bama and uga also don't beat Bama and uga every year. Should we not hire Kirby if he'd come?

Big game Brohm knows passing offense, coaches his players hard on the sidelines, and wins big games.
This would be hire to back the bank truck.

Also we can lose to Bama and uga every year now and still make the cfp I think.
