Yea, DT depth definitely has me a little worried.

I was actually surprised to see Truesdell on there and not Alec Jackson. Dude was getting killed by Garner earlier this camp and basically called him soft in interview. But he also said he's ridiculously strong just out of shape. Wonder if he's gotten in shape. Might fill in Devaroe Lawrences role of stuffing middle in our short yardage packages

At this point, any time I hear Garner dogging somebody, I take it as they are actually doing pretty well. It seems he likes to really ride someone hard that has impressed to try and get even more out of them. It did surprise me a little though as well

That's a good point. Cheering for him to be successful because despite fact we told him he had to wait on Ryan Johnson before he could commit, he did anyways and signed. Dude wanted to be here. Hard to not like guys like that

Gus just said heading into the first game that Kam Martin will probably be the #3 back
Posted on 8/29/17 at 11:31 am to TigerPaw1
So based off depth chart, here's who could be headed for redshirt. Obviously some of these guys could help on special teams also guys in depth chart aren't a guarantee to play always (Mike Horton was 2nd team OT as a true freshman)
Nick Brahms
Austin Troxell
Malcolm Askew
Malik Willis
JaTarvious Whitlow
Alec Jackson
John Samuel Shenker
Anders Carlson
A bit surprised that Peters and Leonard cracked 2 deep but Askew hasn't considering he's been there since bowl practice

I'm not surprised on Peters at all. Dude is a stud. Askew is still pretty small i believe. Probably just needs time to get bigger.

LOVE the OL
Love the WR core
Love the front 7 defensively, and unlike the rest of you, i'm glad Cowart is in there. Maybe he will get a chance to turn it around on the field.
I'm hoping Jamel Dean locks down the other corner spot for Javaris can play nickel almost exclusively. His body type seems perfect for the spot.
Can't wait to watch Jeff Holland wreck shite all year.
oh, and frick Clemson

Here's hoping we don't have to rely on Sage Ledbetter.

That WR core is deep and stacked. I'm so tired of the Rant giving us shite because they didn't have great "stats" last year. They are going to be fun to watch this year.

Lol at some of at all with the OL depth chart. This is Gus Mazlhn's team. It will change before the season ends.

Also, interesting that Sal Cannella is listed as a WR and not TE.
I thought I read somewhere that Sal is going to be seen at slot quite a bit. He would pose a matchup nightmare. White boy has major ups. Plus his dad owns a "construction" business out of Chicago. Let's just say, if a DB gives him a hard time during a game, his dad will make the DB "an offer he can't refuse".

Others will play, sure, but I think Gus got the 5 he wanted in the spots he wanted them. I'm thinking they stay put most of the time.

Gus Malzahn may stop releasing depth charts (247)
Malzahn is so pleasant when football is about to start
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. — By the end of his press conference discussing the depth chart, Gus Malzahn came to a realization Tuesday.
The fifth-year Auburn coach had been asked over and over again about first-teamers, second-teamers and even third-teamers on the depth chart he released for Week 1 of the No. 12 Tigers’ season opener against Georgia Southern.
“Of course putting out the depth chart, I know there are some teams around the country not doing that. So maybe that will be a trend, just from a depth chart. You have to understand from a coach’s standpoint, you’re giving out information and you’re always worried about a lot of different things.”
Pressed later about former five-star prospect Byron Cowart being listed on the depth chart as co-backup alongside true freshman Tyron Truesdell, Malzahn pushed more about the possibility of not releasing a depth chart in the future.
“I wouldn’t read too much in that,” Malzahn said. “Like I said, you want to put the guys that are going to be playing, OK? And it kinda goes back to me saying this depth chart deal moving forward with everything. Creating a bunch of stuff that really doesn’t need to be questions brought up. All those guys are going to play and everybody will have a chance to see. It kinda goes back to the why you don’t want a depth chart with a question like that.”
Malzahn then directed his point to a local reporter, who last week asked a question about whether he ever contemplated not releasing a roster before the season — much like Jim Harbaugh at Michigan.
“Thank you for doing that. It just confirmed moving forward with depth charts and all that,” Malzahn said.

I wouldn't tell me shite.
Information is power and the more the opponent has, the worse off you are. Malzahn has got a lot to prove on the field before he gets the obsequious passes that the press gives other coaches. But I've got no problem with Malzahn's approach regarding accessibility.

2013 - same starting 5 all year
2014 - Pat Miller (RT) hurt against LaTech, Young (RG) moved to RT, Slade (LG) moved to RG, & Danzey stepped up to LG
2015 - Young injured against Louisville (Smith moved to RT) but returned for LSU, Golson injured against UGA, Danzey came in at C, Young injured against Bama and was replaced by Leff

Pretty sure last year's was triggered by Dampeer getting banged up but I could be wrong
Ya looks like he got banged up against LSU
