You can do what you want with your money, but surely you see why people would want a legit jersey with their favorite players name or signed memorabilia for a family member. I won't spent much, but depending on whats there, there's a decent chance I get something.

I have been wondering what would incentivize the average Joe to give their money away. Are you sure the average Joe will receive merchandise and memorabilia?

The only way they give is if they get something in exchange.

Ok. Just making sure “getting thick OL” isn’t the only incentive.

I don't know that for sure. I am simply agreeing with you that folks will want some sort of "return" for giving the money over.

Now we are full circle again. This is also the reason big money boosters pay big money to the program. IE. Lowder, Milty, Yella Fella.

Fans are about to get to experience what they have fought against all this time

fricking shite show

And for the record, I have no money to donate and I would not if I had it. Mostly because it is not that important to me but basically because the entire premise it just fricking a bad idea

I already told TUF that you had a successful business, a beautiful pool, and you’re willing to donate. They dont like free riders.

I have receipts I can show them. Once they see them, each one of them will pull $20 out of their pockets and hand it to me

This is why we can't have nice things. Like SEC caliber offensive linemen.

And let's say posters do want to give money to this NIL deal.

Are their that many supporters who will give enough to amount to anything?

If you're already giving for TUF, tickets, and now doing it for basketball too, then there is only so much money in our budgets.

Big business and rich booster is one thing, but to expect players to get most of their money from us....I just don't see it.

Inflation is soaring and you think I’m going to hand money over to a new organization getting worked by lawyers to supposedly bring in recruits that will only be here 1-4 years?

You have no clue what that money will be going to. I would have to have immediate returns from something and the ability to earmark my funds to a specific position and the transparency from the fund that is as clear as day.

Let's just say each person that goes to a game (87,451) spends just $40 in the NIL deal. That's close to $3.5 million. And you know there are people that are going to spend a lot more than that.

How much of that gets "absorbed"?

This is going to be such a mess. I dont think people are looking at the grand scheme of things. And anything that Auburn does, other teams will be doing as much if not more

There is going to be so much corruption in this, it will be the biggest shite show in college football history. Taxes not getting paid, etc. Kids being in debt for years and years because of it

First, I think they will be lucky to get half of those fans to give anything.

How many of them are season ticket holders and/or TUF? I would start there. But past that, I dont see non-season ticket holders doing it at all, unless there is a specific athlete they want signed gear from.

And it will be based on which athlete/sport each of the donators want their donation to go to, right?

Some sports not doing well will have terrible responses.

The other thing is I don't think this is sustainable. One of those fads that start of great, but peeters out in following years.

You all have valid points. But again, This is why we can't have nice things. We all may not agree to donate.I think Auburn will lag behind and become one of the have nots of college football. I don't like the NIL set up that Auburn is pushing through that website. I like the Texas model. Set up a non profit charitable organization that will pay players for their time. Not a for profit company run by lawyers. I'm sure Auburn will figure it out, but if we want championships we can't afford to fall behind.

I would probably qualify as the average Joe and, no, I won’t be giving any money. I’ve got my own kids in college to worry about and a small business to run. Auburn football is a fun pastime to keep up with but if it all goes to hell in a hand basket I’ll find something else to occupy my time.

So season ticketholders already donate to TUF for the privilege of being able to buy season tickets and are then asked to do more on top of that because now they have to help buy players too?

All of this so we can run in a literally unlimited and ever-increasing arms race?

Sitting on our season ticket renewal app right now, and we'll probably renew this year, but my wife and I are talking about it, and this may quickly get to the point where it's unsustainable and unrecognizable to what it was just a few years ago. It's been fun (mostly), but it's already a lot of money and a lot of time, and there is a limit.

The NIL group had a Zoom call this morning I think, to all who could get on.

Did anyone get on, and hear how it went, and the type of responses, if the NIL host allowed feedback?

I'm retired now, and I have been spending my 3 kids inheritance, and told them so.

Let's see trips to Italy, Ireland, etc vs NIL donations?
