Steele would be a typical Braves move. Do just enough to keep revenues up, but not enough to actually win.

That is just telling us the same thing we already know. A board meeting.

That being said, it does look like we are being used for a raise.

They’re not going to be happy with the lack of revenue when the fans boycott the games.

Good for him. I dont think he is worth 7 MM. His class this year was similar to Gus in ranking. We get the right coach, and we will be fine.

They can’t be this fricking stupid

If we all take a deep breath, we'd realize there is no actual evidence to support that they are.

Some jackass who needs to generate interest in his site posted something that would get folks fired up, and it did.

There is no logic at all to the Steele rumor. None. If he was the choice, it would be done already.

And just because Oregon is meeting to discuss Cristobal, doesn't mean he's locked up. They know they have to be ready to try because he's going to continue getting interest from the south.

Even if he is, I'm not sure there is enough difference in him and Napier to justify paying Cristobal probably double what we'd pay Napier PLUS his 8mil buyout.

My guess would be Cristobal announced Saturday, or Napier announced Sunday. Steele makes no sense of any kind, whatsoever.

You say that, but the people I sit with will go regardless. It is a social event for them.

Yea, in theory that meeting could mean a lot of things. It could be an emergency meeting because he is leaving.

Could also be to counter our offer.

Could be to agree to final terms and sign him.

Last one is by far the most likely, but nobody knows for sure yet.

It’s meeting created for the sole purposes of Mario’s contract and the public and media has been invited to attend.

That’s going to be good news for Oregon fans

Board meeting literally means nothing at this point without context

They could be deciding what to offer MC, deciding whether to make an exception to their university-wide pay freeze in order to negotiate a contract, or ratifying a deal already agreed upon between MC and the University

Nah. I work in higher Ed. Our shite looks just like this all the time because the media gets invited to all of our board meetings. (Regardless of what we are talking about)

They have agreed to terms and this is a formality.

Unless the dude has a last second change of heart, MC is staying at Oregon.

frick it...take Sark from Bama and keep Steele as the DC ...maybe with an asst HC tag. He’s making $2.5 at Bama. Not sure what it would take to get him to leave, but it’s certainly less than we would pay Cristobal.

Let Steele keep running the show on D and Sark fix the offense. If we don’t take him, one of our rivals will at some point. The Bama melt would damn near be worth it by itself and he’s proven to be a good head coach. Send him to the Bruce Pearl “How to Revive your Image 101” class and move on.
