Not saying it makes any sense.. I agree with everyone else. That was word for word what he said though. I don't know anything about him, but I can't imagine he would be trolling or joking right now.. Never know though.

Damn I just read Ron's posts. He repeats stuff about it possibly being Steele and Steele being high on the list

Screw all that. He better be trolling

Again. The most truthful thing said so far is none of these reports know anything about a list, and who is where on said list.

Just look at it through a logical viewpoint. Does Auburn fire a coach who has had SOME success, with a 21 million dollar buyout, to promote an old, pretty good DC that’s already on staff to head coach? Do they fire him if they don’t already have serious interest in another coach? I don’t think so.

Lane Kiffin hasn't tweeted in 10 hours.

Gus was fired 8 hours ago.

Pretty sure Ron was convinced it was Jimbo too.

This. All the pre-melting about Steele is ridiculous. It makes zero sense. But when has any insider for Auburn ever been accurate regarding any of our coaching hires? Steeles name was never even mentioned or included on any list when he was hired as DC.

I believe we have our guy and he will be announced soon and anybody posting they have an idea who it is going to be is full of it.

I don’t know if it’s Steele or not — but Steele really doesn’t like doing head coach stuff. He really hates talking to the media, he’s not super involved in recruiting, and would be awful at the whole program building & promotion aspect of the gig. If he’s the hire then it’s not a long term solution

He also hasn’t been in the head coach rumor mill since joining the staff. He’s had some mentions among G5 jobs but nothing remotely close to a P5 gig. HC at Auburn would be a big leap for a guy that’s on the other side of his coaching career

Told you lol.. I'm on a whole lot of vitamins at the moment though so its hilarious to me that its even a possibility

edit- for the record I agree with everyone else.. It doesn't make any sense. so there's no reason to get worked up about it at all. I'm just enjoying the craziness of the moment for what it is.. Hope it will be at least another 8 years before we're in this position again.

Kiffin just seems like too much of a shiny object. If he leaves Ole Miss after one year, that'll be two programs he's done that to. What makes anyone think he wouldn't do the same to Auburn?

I mean, some would argue, one year of lightning in a bottle is better than no lightning ever. But I'm just not sold on Kiffin.

Holy shite. Even PM is echoing what Ron is saying about Steele.

PM said he believes Steele is the leading candidate.

frick this if this comes to fruition. Just bring Gus back at this point.

It would make zero sense to promote from within, especially considering Kevin Steele was one of the worst head coaches in college football history.

How to get all of the fans to buy into the new coach in 2 easy steps:

1. Leak that you are hiring Steele.
2. Hire real head coach.

Why do you guys believe anything those two say about coaching searches? Do y’all really not remember when we hired Malzahn?

Would this be possible (trying to lighten the mood)

1. Auburn hires Steele as HC
2. Steele turns around and hires Gus as OC
3. Staff remains intact
4. We paid Gus 21 mil for laughs
