Do you know Rob Shuler? I do and Rob Shuler is no liar. Also knew Curt Crain. Had several classes with them at Auburn.
No I don't know either of them and I am not saying they are wrong. Im just asking a question.
Don't you find it a little odd though that we have had all these "coaching" issues for years now. Coaches trying to undermine each other, boosters and coaches in 3 year conspiracies to get a coach fired and another one moved up and we have not heard one word about it until now
Not only that but now, there is a new "conspiracy" everyday.
Im not saying it didn't happen, it just seems a little odd. The timing of it all

What I like about Nap and Sark. Their buyouts are low. We just need to give them free reign. Cut them after 3-4 years if it isn't working.

Listening now.
Rob may have an agenda, but it wouldn’t surprise me a bit that the incident he described occurred. I just wonder about the two defensive assistants.
Could the anti-Gustav guy have been Steele? I would think he would be the guy with the closest relationship with powerful boosters.
That said, this was also my reaction:

Garner played for Dye and was a Dye guy through and through. We all know Dye had a lot of pull up until his death.
He could be the coach linked to the money folks.
Or this whole story could be bullshite...

The meddling booster stuff at Auburn is very believable. I do think that it is very possible to have desent on the staff. And the part about the anti coach having the support of that booster and leaning/using that relationship is very plausible. That occurs in a lot of work environments. If it was Garner, remember he is old school Dye. Again if true, Malzahn was in a bad situation, but he let it persist. He should have went straight to the booster and told him to support me or fire me.
And BTW: Kurt has passed. He has been gone for awhile. Hell of a linebacker!!

I don't disagree that those things happen and happen at a lot of places. But with the program not necessary tearing it up the last two years, I don't see how those things could have been happening and it not leaking out.
And now all the sudden, its oozing out like a boil..... Like I said, just seems odd
Im older than most here and I have become very cynical in my old age. I basically believe very little of what I hear from these so called "insiders" and guys looking to put information out. 99% of the time, it has been untrue and there is another agenda
If some of this dissension would have came up when it happened, it would have been easier to absorb

Booster are annoying, but their involvement is over blown. At a place like AU, the program is self sufficient. Meaning ticket sales, conference payouts, etc fund the coaches salary. Boosters can help fund buildings. Rane/Harbert's money aren't needed, but a luxury. They aren't in the QB room meetings talking footwork
. They aren't even involved in staff hiring. That is some AL.com made up shite.

I agree with you on a lot of what we hear. But people like Shuler and former players are not "typical" insiders. They are not like these clowns on these gossip/recruiting sites. They are plugged in by a network. They are like a fraternity. They talk and they stay in touch. If something happens down there, They hear it and know about it. And they don't get it from third party sources.

They are, though. Remember Willie a few hundred pages back? They are worse, actually. Just because they played a year 25 years ago doesn't make them privileged to information. Alan Greene seems like a sharp dude. He isn't feeding anyone information. JDub and the likes claimed we had our coach locked up last weekend. We all forgot how wrong they were?

Who is claiming that they involve themselves with day to day crap like you listed. But if you don't think that they are involved in power play politics you are naive. Their money buys access.

Just go back through this thread. People are claiming Gus is "made" to hire certain people. Hire certain coordinators. Bottom line. No one knows anything. There is maybe 10% truth and 90% BS.

I don’t believe that.. I’ve heard stories before about Lowder from years ago and Harbert from many that would know.
They want their money to be recognized and their intentions honored.
We could do like Bama’s law school last year and say we don’t think you have our best interests so take your 21 million dollar donation and get out...

exactly.
And Like Shuler said, he only comes out and says his piece and uses his connections to say when wrongs were done, (i.e. Dye's firing, CTT backdoor crap, and now the behind the scenes undermining Gus).
I thought the 2 coaches he was referring to was in infight between Steele and TWill? I didn't think it had to do with Garner. Especially when we heard that Twill was thought to be let go if Gus had stayed.
But I like Schulers no nonsense evaluation. Ofc, his suggestion of an exit interview from an outside lawyer to find out where the trouble occurred before determining who to let go.
But I totally agree of his assessment of the AUburn ability to compete for championships and the REASON we let Gus go bc 4 loss seasons was putting us farther down in the SEC to achieve those goals.
We should never SETTLE for a new HC. Granted there is no top notch coach available so we are having to go after another Dye type. Succssful, strong personality, and ability to go toe to toe in the SEC and the West.
Is Napier that guy? Sark?(Shuler didn't think he had a strong enough personality for the job), who else is left?
But NOT Steele. Not Neil Brown. Not Bill Clark. Not Kiffen.

I understand everyone needs a boogie man. Human nature when information is lacking. Rane/Harbert isn't as influential as tRant hopes for. Alan Greene isnt David Housel, and that is a good thing.

He didn't say names. You could be right. I have no clue who he was talking about. I really don't want to know. But if true, They need to fix it. Bad, bad environment.

Anyone else think its a little odd that it has been completely quiet and all of a sudden we get 5 names that will interview for the job? Not one or two leaks, but all 5 names. My conspiracy theorist side says this is a smokescreen to try to calm fans down.
Out of those 5 though:
Tony Elliot says he has not been contacted and isn't interviewing.
247 says Sark will interview, but they think he will want a Gus-like contact and we won't want to pay it.
That leaves Napier, Venables, and Steele as our options and I'm not sure Venables actually wants to leave Clemson. That would leave Napier and Steele.. so I'm officially all Napier.
I know some people like Bill Clark, but apparently he might have some question marks.. I've heard when he was HC at Prattville he steered kids away from Auburn. Also for anyone who knows CoachPink on the 247 boards (former college coach and player) he hasn't really given much opinion on the coaching search, but went out of his way to say he couldn't support hiring Clark, not because of what he did at Prattville, but he didn't want to go into detail.. Just said thats one guy he can't support. Usually CoachPink steers clear of rumors and drama and just does breakdowns so I thought that was interesting.

This.
I've asked this too. So we have been dysfunctional as hell for years but no one has said a thing about it? That's a bigger crime to me than this coaching search.
