It’s going to be Steele and I’m gonna have to take some time off from lurking on boards and being invested in the program/success/recruiting. What a complete fricking dumpster fire this has become. Downtown is getting destroyed by high rises, our last president was a disaster, and now our football program is absolutely fricked. Sorry about the melt.

There is no way that it is Steele. I was not expecting us to fire Gus this year and the fact that we did, leads me to believe that we already have his replacement lined up. I don't think you fire Gus after this year and pay $20M to hopefully get your guy. Paying that kind of money to strike out on your top candidates and end up 3-4 guys down your list is just as bad as hanging on to Gus another year. I believe we started conversations before firing Gus and will be ready to announce soon.
How quick we move doesn't mean it has to be internal. Freeze has been quarantining with COVID for 2 weeks and could easily do Zoom meetings...

I don't think it sounds super enthusiastic. But at the same time he probably didn't wanna say too much and set unrealistic expectations, especially given how everyone has such different opinions on who it should be. This is assuming he was actually told who the coach is (not calling him a liar but he source could have been wrong)
