they really wont just sell the frames usually.

IMO, if you tailgate a bunch invest in a good one. They break much less often. We used to get anywhere between 1-3 seasons with the cheap ones, now am on 5 with our current and the only issue is the canvas wheeled case is getting some holes

Realize that, but if I could find a generic one, buy it and use my AU cover.

We (my tailgating) group usually buy good ones, but we have had issues with the frames breaking on the last two. Seem to be only getting 2-3 years use before they break.

I've been going the sub-$100 route and am about to buy my 3rd in 5 years.

Are EZUPS considered the standard?

We have two sturdy 20 x 10 tents that we put up beside one another..can't remember the brand name at the moment. We paid a good amount. Best investment we've made as they've gone strong for 5 years now.

its always the frames, they use thin gauge aluminum.

A lot of the brands have different levels and you might have to order online or through a catalogs to get a better one. The ones we are using is from Shelter Logic, one of their higher end pop ups.

I think EZ UP has different levels of quality as well.
