I hate being an Auburn fan. At least I don't like ATL sports or else I would hate sports

Meh, we're still a big player in it. I don't think South Carolina is really going to offer anything resembling HCIW. Houston is troublesome.

Like I said last night. We should've hired Odom yesterday

We are going to end up with Chiz as our DC. No sources, just a gut feeling.

So my take on the recent update:
-We're going to have to wait for Houston to hire a coach if we want Muschamp and hope they offer it to somebody else.
-The promise SCar is giving him isn't good for us but not necessarily that bad. They way they word it make it sounds like it won't be in the contract which means it depends on how much Muschamp trusts them. He might not want to limit his options to just SCar in 3-4 years either

They can put it in financially. Say they offer 1.5mil$/year with 2-300k$/yr guaranteed raises as long as he is DC. Add in a 6-10mil$ buyout
Unless they are willing to have a 2+mil$/year DC or pay a massive buyout, you are looking at their next HC

FWIW, TAMU is convinced they are getting Bud Foster from VA tech. Got a flightaware track from College Station to Roanoke, so you know it's legit.
Would be a homerun hire for sure.

This whole thing is a debacle, and I'm pretty confident all these auburn pay sites are totally full of shite.
in the end, it's about making a good hire... and that's on Gus. Beilema hired some no name LBs coach from the Bucs, and the guy totally turned their defense around in one season. Who cares if he wins December/January?... it's about how this defense performs next season. Id love to have Will Muschamp, but he's not the only dude in America that can get results.

Lulz. Houston isn't going to hire him. They don't thrive off a stellar D. Their competitive advantage has been an all out offense.

He is the only one we can have cool "boom" related nicknames though

No, but he's probably the only dude in America that will bring 2-3 5* with him on top of getting results.

I don't see why Muschamp would want to go to Houston, let alone any other HC gig right now.
He spent 4 years at UF. His record was:
7-6
11-2
4-8
6-5
If he gets a HC position and isn't successful, he will never get another shot at a "good" school. That's a pretty big gamble at this point in his career and also, why would he want to jump back in with the same headaches. A lot less stress as a coordinator.
He goes the coordinator route and gets 2-3 years under his belt and is in a better place to take on a HC gig.

quote:Personally I think Sumlin's philosophy of never letting 1s go against 1s thus not letting the D be prepared for SEC speed and skill will make that hire a bust.
Would be a homerun hire for sure.
