I imagine Penn State would outbid us for him. He isn't as "known" to command a salary like Muschamp but Penn State and Franklin would pay him above market rate

I am laughing at people on Das Boonker who are talking about if Muschamp is "in it for the longhaul at AU." Aren't too many successful DCs out there that think 'man I am getting multimillion dollar offers to be HC but I am going to take less to be a DC and not have control'

What about Bob Shoop, Penn State's DC? He did a phenomenal job at Vanderbilt and this year has Penn State's defense at #3

I could definitely get behind this.

ETA: just checked his bio and he is from Pennsylvania originally. Probably not moving to Auburn.

It's gonna take him at minimum 2 years of quality DC work to repair his HC rep enough to get a quality HC shot.

They also play in the American conference that had over half the teams finish the regular season under .500 this year.

They held Ole Miss to 7 points for three quarters this year, and still finished the game allowing less points than we did.

That Memphis team was giving up 35 points per game before he got there. They gave up 17 points per game this season.

Or Tyson Summers, a VanGorder disciple who has UCF's defense at #4

No thank you. The man is lost on depending spread or tempo teams so I'm skeptical on his disciples defending quality spread or tempo teams.

And if he did well enough to get HC looks, that means we had ballin defenses so it was definitely a success

Anytime you have a top flight coordinator doing well and don't have an old as dirt coach, the expectation is they are going to leave. Bill Clark, Odom or anyone else would go HC if they do well at AU in addition to Muschamp

So... Boom. Can we have him?

Because he would be one of the better x and o guys, he knows Alabama high school coaches and could recruit the state well, and he has less head coaching experience than Gus.

I'm not sure that Gus is going to hire a coordinator with more HC experience than him.

Ellis had more HC experience than him when he was hired

What does that have to do with his head coaching experience?

You know exactly what point I was making. It's obviously not an issue for Gus if they guy has more HC experience.

Could be true but I've seen nothing that would suggest that.

quote:

Ok that's a plus but doesn't put him over the top. There's plenty of guys that could recruit the southeast very well.

quote:

he has less head coaching experience than Gus.

This has nothing to do with anything.

Muschamp is Gus' clear number 1 choice. So that's already wrong.

Just let BZ and ellitor have their fun. He's already stated he's biased because he played for Clark. And ellitor we all know is the biggest Prattville homer.

Giving up 42 points and 550 yards is not owning anybody.
