I don't want to lose Steel Garner etc Unless it's an absolute homerun hire.
And therein lies the problem - the last thing you want when hiring a new HC is to dictate to him who he has to keep from the current staff.

What do y’all think?

Thing that stood out to me most working on this story:
Anthony Schwartz and Seth Williams were on the field together for only 9 of 61 plays at Florida. They play the same X position, but if they're Auburn's best WRs, shouldn't they share the field more?

One of the plays they were both on the field for was Auburn's TD. Schwartz ran a post over the middle from the slot, taking three defenders with him. That left Williams, the outside receiver, in single coverage.

As Schwartz said earlier this season, defenses can't double both.

Mindbogglingly stupid. I honestly can't see how they play the same position in our offense.

I can’t either.

If both are healthy, they should be on the field in the same capacity that Darvin Adams and Terrell Zachary were on the field at the same time.

Seth would take Darvin's role and Anthony takes Zachary's.

I know Gus’s offense is structured around responsibilities but he has to be more flexible if he wants multiple options for Nix. No wonder our passing offense seemed to be lacking of playmakers.

T-Zach was a favorite of mine.

knowing Gus, he thinks he's fooling the defense, because he maybe puts Schwartz in the same position when Williams is not in there, but runs that jet sweep, which only works against weaker defenses.

If he is not going to get Hastings, Stove, and Schwartz open in space so Nix can complete some high percentage passes, and let them work there speed magic when they get the ball, then Gus is not helping Nix in the passing game.

problem with this stat is that he has played Florida once, and Bama has been top 3 nearly every single time he has ever played them and UGA has been top 5 the last few times.

Saban is GOAT and its inarguable. Bama is a machine. I think any coach should be graded on a curve against him.

That said, we should be competitive with every other Big 6 program, no excuses, and we're not. If we're not competitive or ranked near them, that's on the coach.

It is not an unreasonable expectation that we go 1-1 on average against LSU & UGA every year. Some years, 0/2, some years 2/2. But we go 0/2 much more often than not against them recently.

I'm not throwing the towel in on Gus but I am willing to hold him accountable. Some of you guys take UGA/LSU being better than us as a given and then give him a pass when he lets them prove it.

This mofo got a buyout to leave and is laughing all the way to the bank about Gus' contract he stuck us with.

Excluding Alabama who is winning at another planet's pace...I agree we need to beat the LSU/GA years enough times to give us a chance. The problem is we haven't...

I went back and checked and since Gus has been HC...

...we are 3-9 against them
...we have never been 2-0 in those 6 years, but half of them have been 0-3
...we have beaten LSU only once and surprisingly that was NOT during our 2 best years of 2013 and 2017.

So we are behind the eight ball in trying to get to the SECC, since we always seem to have one SEC loss before we even get to the GA/Alabama games.

It starts with LSU and needing to beat them.

But starting next year it will start with GA as we now have them first before the end of the year LSU/Alabama games.
