Overall Record Minus Gof5 and Non-FBS Opponents
37-27 (58%)

Record vs Big 6 (Bama, Fla, UGA, LSU, Tenn) and Postseason
10-19 (34%)

To his credit, he is really good vs. mid-majors, Arkansas, and the Mississippi schools...

problem with this stat is that he has played Florida once, and Bama has been top 3 nearly every single time he has ever played them and UGA has been top 5 the last few times.

There is no excuse for losing to Tennessee last year and that has been Gus' biggest sin in my eyes. But that is the only truly gimme game that he fricked the dog on. He just doesn't lose a lot of games he shouldn't, he just doesn't win the games that he shouldn't either.

He is 9-4 against the Mississippi schools. 4-3 vs. Miss St and 5-1 vs. Ole Miss.

Funny thing about stats. You can make them fit your narrative. During the 10-19 decade, Bama has won the west 5 times, AU 3, LSU 1 and this year is TBD. We have won a title and played for another. Since like 08, LSU/UT/UGA is like 1-23ish vs Saban. It is unfair to AU and Gus to not take the entire picture into account when evaluating the past decade of football. This is all while AU has the hardest road to ATL every year vs the other SEC west teams. If we were to change coaches, it is more likely we end up like UT than Bama. You morons thinking we were going undefeated this year are funny. Everyone predicted us to be in the 8-10 win range. I am proud our team fought Sat. The rest of you can pound sand.

But but but, Bama is good. Y'all are bitches. I don't understand for the life of me why you people are such staunch Gus supporters. The guy has the same amount of double-digit win seasons as Bowden and Tuberville. He gave us 1 SEC title. That's great and I appreciate it. I also appreciate Chiz giving us a Natty, but I don't want him as our coach. But but but, who are we gonna get that's better than Gus? Urban fricking Meyer. Offer him $11M/year and lets start stacking trophies.

I’ll take Matt Campbell before Urban Meyer

Why wouldn't he come??? Florida only had 1 championship when he took over for Zook in 2005. Nick Saban won't be around for much longer. He is 67 years old. Auburn has excellent funding, facilities, history, and recruiting area. Our lack of ambition and imagination makes us Average Auburn coached by Good Enough Gus...

Like I said, not good. Auburn should not be barely above .500 against Moo State

Yeah, that guy is a POS. I'd rather go 8-4 in perpetuity than see that turd walking the sideline in JHS.

To be fair, two of those three losses came against the greatest QB in MSU's 125-year gridiron history. The third loss came on the road against the #1 ranked defense in FBS last year.

And it should also be mentioned that we have won 3 of the last 4, by margins of 24, 39 and 33 points, behind Sean White, Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix.

Phillip Marshall says Gus is off the hot seat and safe unless the season unravels into a colossal shitshow that includes a loss to either Arky or Ole Miss and uncompetitive losses to the big 3 left on our schedule.

Our schedule ( which is typically tough,) and his buyout are aiding Gus according to PM.

I think it’s pretty obvious starting a TF is helping as well.

So this means more 4-5 loss seasons in our future with no light at the end of the tunnel, this is beyond frustrating.

I would reluctantly have to agree with his analysis.

With:
1. starting a TF
2. winning AGAIN 8 games
3. Beating 1 or 2 of the big 3 (LSU, GA, Alabama)
4. Being competitive against the above mentioned top 5 teams.
5. Still a huge buyout amount

....Gus will get him another year.

...But...

1. If he loses to OM or Ark, then it becomes shakier
2. Looks bad against GA AND Alabama, our 2 biggest rivals

..It could be enough to let him go..but I still doubt it

I mean I guess. We’ve nearly got a championship ready roster now if we didn’t have our QB on training wheels.
Next year we are going have huge snags again. Your post will inevitably read like:

quote:

1. starting brand new lines
2. winning AGAIN 8 games
3. Beating 1 or 2 of the big 3 (LSU, GA, Alabama)
4. Being competitive against the above mentioned top 5 teams.
5. Still a huge buyout amount

Just seems to be a constant cycle of being at least a couple players short every year.

The funny thing is Gus is doing nothing that benefits us. He's not a great recruiter, his offense sucks, he has a terrible track record with qbs, etc...

The problem is he's the glue that's holding together our staff which are great recruiters and coaches (for the most part).

Fire Gus and we likely lose Kevin Steele Rodney Garner Twill Etc. That's the pickle.

I'd rather go 8-9 wins with Kevin Steel or someone that would keep the staff in place and institute a NORMAL offense. I can take losing some games every now and then, but I can't take losing and looking ridiculous on offense.

I don't want to lose Steel Garner etc Unless it's an absolute homerun hire.

He needs to beat UGA and/or UAT at home and win all other games except perhaps LSU.

He then needs to hire a strong Oline coach and recruiter. Thats where GM fails because he lacks a coaching tree himself. But that is imperative.

I dont have any insight but I question whether Dillingham or Burns are adding anything to creating creative and sophisticated passing game. Thats a big piece of the offense that is missing. Compare the coaches Ed O has brought in to GM. Lacking
