We aren’t Little Donkey fans. It’s not bad, but just not for us.

We’ve been out to eat a lot lately. We are small business owners and feel obligated to visit our local restaurants. They really been dealt a bad hand with this bullshite.

Why do you hate Martin? Haven't got to fish it in a few years, but I love that lake. I think my uncle knows every spotted bass there by name

They are doing 50% off for health care workers so we have been eating there fairly frequently during the lockdown.

Wife and I went to Southwood in Daphne Friday night. It’s hard to find restaurants around here that are open for dine in.

Anyways......it was really good and they were maxed out with ~50% occupancy.

This.

We ordered takeaway from our favorite local cracker seafood joint last night, owned by a family friend. Got to keep the good local places open, otherwise our only choices in the future will be the big nondescript chains.

Along those lines, I was thinking just the other day as I drove past the now-shuttered Logan’s Roadhouse - I wonder if the lockdown will reduce the number of virtually-identical-but-not-quite steakhouse chains. Within 5 miles of my house there are the following similar restaurants:

Saltgrass
Outback
Texas Roadhouse
Longhorn
Golden Corral
Logan’s (now permanently closed)

And thats not counting all the Chilis/Applebees/Ruby Tuesdays/Cheddars/TGI Fridays/etc in that same radius.

What is Southwood? Wife got a tip that Mr. Joes/Shanghai Cottage was open, felt like Chevy Chase in Vacation. Mexican was open.

It is in the old Rosies kitchen Location. I was told the chef from Jessie’s in Magnolia Springs opened it. We had a scallop and a tuna entree and they were both realllly good.

So what's on the grill?

Nothing fancy here. Just burgers and corn on the cob, with cucumber-n-tomato salad, and risking a preseason watermelon. No alcohol besides some Aldi's wheat beer; think it's Licher, haven't tried this one yet.

I wanted steaks but both rouses and Publix had shite for steaks and I didn’t feel like driving down to mosleys. Gonna do a chicken. Bribed with salt, sugar, peppercorns, and fresh rosemary for 24 hours.

Gonna lightly smoke on my egg in a cerramjc beer can cooker (filled with a little apple cider vinegar and rosemary) Rubbed with olive oil and black pepper. Then spread rosemary garlic compound butter under the skin.

It’s pretty much the shite. Serve with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies.

Also I’m drunk....been boat riding.

Smoked some ribs for 4 hours for a gathering at the wife’s parents with pool. It’s been a good day so far.

Went kayaking at the Redneck Yacht Club yesterday. Lost my costas. My wife lost her top in her only tumble.

My God there is a beautiful chemistry between baking in the sun and ice cold beer.

I miss it like hell man. Grew up around Pensacola.

Went for a hike with the wife and kids, drinking blue moons and about to throw some Ribeyes on the grill.

Unfortunately the incident caused my dry bag (phone) to go floating down the crik.

That was my moment of leverage that I missed out on though.

That sounds just like my weekend two weeks ago. One thing about the pandemic is it pushed our family outdoors. We have bought bikes, fishing rods, and a kite lol. It has been good times.
