How about one that grabs himself on the sideline?

I’d disagree with that entirely

I've noticed this trend on here for a while. I don't think the older fans are so much "okay" with the subpar results they just like that we have a coach whose a good face of the program, doesn't cuss, and provides some type of stability.

Us younger guys are like frick it hire Kiffin as HC, Freeze as OC we'll either win or the NCAA will burn it down

Exactly. Idgaf what kind of person the HC is. Saban is a SOB, but that SOB wins games. I'd take a POS like Urban Meyer, Saban, Pete Carroll, etc. any day over a "good man" that doesn't win shite.

I just think the older generation of Auburn fans are more leniet to subpar results. Those of us Auburn fans that are younger than 40 aren't.
I don't think that's true. How many of the boosters that have the money to make a change happen are under 40? If Gus is fired, even if there are just rumblings of him getting fired, it is because those over 40 got tired of it and got up the money to pay his buyout.

If anything, I think those of us of a certain age (I'm over 40, but just barely) have seen what happens when you make a change without a solid replacement lined up. You end up in a situation like Tennessee, where you go through multiple coaching regimes in a very short period of time. When you do that, you do two things.

One - you limit your potential talent pool for the job because they know if they have one off year they are in danger of being gone.

Two - you end up with screwed up recruiting classes, or else you end up with skill sets that don't match schemes.

Tennessee isn't the only example. Does anyone remember LSU before Saban was there? They had 5 head coaches over a 20 year span, and only one had a winning record over .600

Is this season sucking? Yes. Is Gus the long term solution at Auburn? Probably not. However, if you fire him and bring in Kiffin, what happens when he flames out in a year or two? Go through all of this again?

It isn't that the "older crowd" is more lenient of subpar results. We just may have a different idea of subpar results - look how quickly Tubbs was canned after a bad season, and he would have been gone for a season not as bad as that a few years before. Chiz was kicked to the curb after a historically bad season.

Then you'd be no different than those cross state bastards. Now don't get me wrong, I'm warming up to the idea of a slut like Kiffen.

Holy fricking shite... Kiffen is arguably a WORSE person than Saban, dude. He fricks shite up on AND off the field.

The only thing that makes Saban a bad person is that he's standing on the wrong sideline.

It is IN SANE to put him in the same category as some of these other coaches as far as character? Why...because he's mean to the media sometimes...??

Now evidently we've become dumb enough to think that because Gus is considered a good guy, but we think he is a bad coach, that we must go hire a bad guy so that we can have a good coach....

One of your reasons for not firing GusShortBus is one of the reasons he needs to be fired. He hasn't signed the recruits he needs to make his offense work, or they are standing on the sidelines watching upperclassmen stink it up on the field.

If you want to win big, you have to gamble big. Every coaching change is a gamble, but there are plenty of coaches that would do a much better job than what we've seen the past 5 years.

A better coach would have had, at the least, multiple SECC during Tubs' time. I mean, Bama was down. The SEC wasn't that strong. It was there for the taking, and Tubs was too busy duck hunting to worry about recruiting.

This statement is sort of like the belief that the back up QB would be better than the starter. Statistically sometimes it does happen, but it isn't likely.

Gus has been maddening, but statistically speaking no matter who we hired they likely would have had similar if not less results.

I have great respect for Coach Saban. Hes excellent at what he does both on and off the field. My main problem with Alabama is their dumbass fans.
