There's a No Steele campaign going on from other AU sites where fans are flooding emails to Gogue titled No Steele. I thought it would be cool if we helped out. Obviously convey your thoughts in a professional manner. An Insider on the bunker is saying the campaign is working. Gogue's email is gjg0002@auburn.edu

I wonder if he’s written back to anyone or even personally monitors it

I wrote to gus once about one of my stats reports and it went to his assistant

So we really fired gus without a sure hire in place? Why don’t we throw the bag at Cristobal or Campbell? We should atleast show some confidence instead of interviewing guys like they’re desperate for a job.

I have sent one the last 2 days and will continue until steele is not head coach. With enough of us, they will understand how much that hire would impact their bottom line. Let them know!

flooding emails

Someone on Twitter pointed out that sports writers may file FOIA requests for the emails and they could eventually get published. I've never lived in fear of people like that, but just FYI. It's good to let civil servants know where you stand. But be professional if you choose to email.

I said last year I wanted to fire Gus and let Steele have a shot. I am not sure I still feel that way, but I do not think Steele would be as much of a bum as you guys think.

The dude knows the SEC, knows defense, knows recruiting, spent time in Alabama as a kid and played football at UT. He has NFL experience, tons of college experience, coached under Saban, coached under Dabo, coached at LSU, and is just a well respected veteran all around. And I think he truly likes being at AU. His players seem to really like him as well (much like they did Gus).

I mean if he hires the right OC, what issue is there really? One thing is for sure, he can attract a better staff than Gus. I am POSITIVE Steele is more respected in the industry when it comes to attracting assistants than Gus was. Gus had this persona of running a coaching cult and no one outside of his disciples wanted to be a part of it. (See ESPN's article about this). Steele would not have that problem.

Also Steele can keep our defensive staff together, which is the strong point in the program right now. He would be able to keep Garner and T-Will for instance.

Moreover, Steele wouldn't be a long term guy and he would know it. His job would be to try and win a championship in 3-4 years and retire. And leave our program strong for the next guy who we'd have more time to find.

You’ve got to be trolling. Old man river Steele would make mediocre Gus seem like a fond memory.

Shut the hell up. Steele was ran out of Clemson and LSU, put a total shite product on the field this year, and hasn't been able to get a pass rusher in 5 years.

We were 4th in the SEC in scoring defense this year, despite all of our losses. This isn’t 1985 when good defenses hold opponents to 10ppg.

I understand the optics with firing malzahn and hiring Steele., Its not a good look to pay 20M and fire a coach that won 2/3rds of his games only to hire another that went 9-36.

With that being said, our defenses have consistently been solid/good since he took over. We’ve managed our defensive roster well, brought in talent at all positions and for the most part done a good job of developing that talent. Moreover we know players love to play for him like they did Malzahn. I also don’t think it’s fair to judge him on his record 20 years ago. People grow and develop. I would have failed at my current job if I would have had it 20 years ago.

With all of that being said, I think this is a better decision than what it appears on the surface. Not saying he would be my first pick, but I don’t think it’s a disaster like everyone is making it out to be.

PS - all of this stop Steele bullshite is a fricking embarrassment to auburn that could end up doing more harm than any coach. Email the AU leadership all you want but let’s not show our arse to the world on social media.

I think we are all a little tense after 7 years of mental abuse from Gus.
I’ve seen Tony Elliott’s name come up for some other searches, but not really ours. He would appear to be a good hire.

After sifting through the choices, I am warming to the idea of Kevin Steele being our coach. Culture is such a big part of why Auburn succeeds when we succeed. The culture is not tainted. It's ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball. If Steele had a solid plan to resurrect the offense, develop players, and move forward with the culture that is in place I would be OK with that. Or shall I say, I wouldn't go on Twitter like a bitch and try and sabotage what we're doing. I would give him full support and see how it goes.

Exactly. We just got out of the Gus prison. We're not going to the getting pound in the arse by our rivals Steele prison without a fight.
