Just hoping for improvement. I don't think he really had anything concrete to tell him where he was and what to build on, but he does now and hopefully we will see on Saturday that he has taken all that in and improves on some of these things. I see that on Saturday and I'm going to feel much better about JA.

I'm with you, Jang, but I've been on board since Baylor.
He earned that name, Hick Marshall.

His ceiling is higher than PT's but that is a weird game to pick to go all in on Jackson. I still want to see him show he can win a game with his arm. And that game wasn't it. Many more low lights than high lights. And if he never starts throwing guys open and hitting windows against good defenses we have several more 24-17 type L's in our future.

Best JA analysis I’ve seen here.

Hugh thinks he can run the whole offense with 4-5 man progressions but I think we're best served this year going back to the simplified two read rpo. It'll help his running game too. Two reads, if they aint there look to run, if that aint there check it down.

Spot effing on. If you know you got a guy with some arm talent and running talent, but he is slow in decision making, heck yeah, lets simplify it a bit and see how he progresses.

Well I was moreso worried about arm talent. When he missed Cam in tbe endzone that sucker was a low flying missile.
I disagree there were more lowlights than high lights. He missed a few throws but oh well; he has enough accuracy to make it work.

Believe it or not, I think the guy has potential. Just needs constant coaching and repetition. He may be a baller one day.

Yep ive never questioned the arm talent. There was a throw he made at Oklahoma last year on the run that was incredible. But we heard Hugh harping all offseason on "we gotta build his confidence". All that talent dont mean shite if he doesn't trust himself to make a play.

He outperformed Mateer
No way, not even close. Mateer got the ball out decisively and threw into windows where receivers were going to be. OU had a big advantage at QB.

Finally got to see the infamous “if Coleman had not slowed down on his route” replay. He most likely gets it if he is in stride. But, I’m not gonna beat him up because I know what he was doing. He was worried JA might underthrow it and he wanted to get a quick glance to make sure. And he’s done a good job getting some of those underthrows. I think Coleman just doesn’t fully trust JA yet.

Mateer didnt have to fear the pass rush and the passing window were more like french doors.
He also had a turnover. Near turnover is better than actual turnover.

Pete,
He loafed. Simple as that. Murray called that route a "clearout route" and those routes are not expecting the ball.

Didn’t loaf, he just didn’t trust JA and wanted to make sure. I’m not saying he’s right. Ultimately he’s at fault.

He turned the jets, slowed down, turned the jets on again.
That's on tape.

Did I say he didn’t? I’m talking about the why.
Posted on 9/23/25 at 12:05 pm to wareaglepete
You said he didnt loaf... Slowing down on a go route is loafing.
Your why is ridiculous. The real why is he didnt expect the ball. Somehow you're turning his loaf into another negative on the QB. Bizarre

Loafing is all about intent. He was not loafing. He did slow up.
And no, not a negative on JA, I just don’t think Coleman has the trust and that’s something Coleman has to fix.

It’s ok to be wrong. Crazy pills might be fun though.
