Last year we were struggling. Had three or four and then had a 4 month boon and our commitment numbers swelled to 17 pretty easily. This year it does feels like the outcome can be different if we don’t have preseason marquee visiting weekends.

That’s not really the case, though. LSU has 8, A&M 6, Bama 3, UGA 7.

Very few are filling out their class right now

I wasn't comparing us to the SEC but more so the national rankings. 15 of the top 20 have 10 or more committed. My overall point was just that our class isn't really as low as the rankings seems because most in front of us have way more commits

Hoping we got plenty of evaluations in. Coaches won’t see any kids this summer at camps (most likely) so what we have is what we have

My melting has nothing to do with our number of commitments, it's how quickly we have lost major ground on virtually all of our top targets and players we thought we had a good shot at. There is pretty much no one left on the board out of the top 247 that you could say we are the favorites to sign. That's extremely worrisome if you care about Auburn football.

Lack of visits hurting us bad. The best thing about Auburn is the atmosphere.

I'm not really worried about our recruiting tho tbh. This staff has always recruited well. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong.

Top 247 is going to change another billion times before signing day. Fairchild was unranked two months ago and now he’s in the top 50.

Sucks to lose out on Brooks and Brown and it deserves a good melt but I’m unimpressed otherwise

Also not sure this has much meaning either. I’m looking at the 2020 class and I’m seeing a lot of surprise commitments. Guys we learned were leaning to AU right before they committed. Only seeing 2-3 guys that seemed like Auburn guys from the start

A lot of guys that seemed locked in last year didn’t end up in the class, actually

Kennedy and Quan seemed like locks before bolting. Cohen said Auburn was his dream offer. We offered, he committed, and late fall looked as good as gone before making it official. Led for Trent Simpson before he committed and then bolted. Led for Phillip Webb early. May have led for McKinnley Jackson early. Led for EJ Williams super early.
Andy Boykin

Just don’t think any of that matters

Exactly. New targets will appear, rankings will change etc. Also when all of this is over and football season is in finally in full swing it will change minds of recruits as well for the good or bad. Keith also explained how Tennessee is hamering the early PT situation. Cody and Brooks both have an easier path there than at auburn. And explained how even though brooks is highly touted he’s a year or two away from being a contributor if he came to auburn. His body isn’t up to par with what Coach G wants and he’d need time in the weight room before even being in the regular rotation much less an immediate contributor as a true freshman like ppl think just bc of the 5star rating. RB, Dline and LB are the least of my worries rn. Also said if Fairchild does choose uga he must really like the school bc their oline unit is stacked and auburn is selling the early PT like they do will most lineman

I just dont understand why we cant get more OL recruits interested. Lets hear the excuses, our scheme is not good for the pros, our coach doesnt like recruiting (havent we used this one for the last four OL coaches). We dont get on players early (wrong, quite the contrary we seem to get on them and lose them). We are too picky. etc, etc.

Georgia had two tackles go in the first round, both with eligibility left, and they will still have a line far far better than us this fall.

With no spring practice, we enter the fall with one starter and the remaining four positions will be filled with two DL converts, two JC players, one grad transfer and a hodge podge of other players.

QBs sell tickets, lines win championships.

Yep. The bottom line is we should be raking OL recruits in, because we can legitimately offer early playing time. Instead, these recruits would still rather go somewhere where the lines are already stacked. It's frustrating

Auburn’s struggle right now in the 2021 class is a little overstated.

Alabama is currently ranked 12th... in the SEC. Ohio State is the only school really killing it right now. Tennessee has landed some big targets but it’s only May and they’ve already tallied 11 3* guys and not one of them is of the high end variety
What I was trying to say. You just did so much better at it.

Not sure about that with no Spring or Summer ball or camp for sites to eval & rate. If we get a legit high school season & All Star games my guess is it will be updated 3 or 4 more times.

We have gotten plenty interested. Problem is in the past Gus focused on too small a group he wanted. Keith even alluded to this the other day. Hopefully things are changing some this year.

4* WR Malcolm Johnson Jr will visit Auburn, he says. Track guy from VA.

Also looks like the Brockermeyer kids will visit Auburn, according to their dad. Says it won’t be easy to make it everywhere they need to visit. Talks to the staff often. Says Chad Morris has been in Texas a lot

Gus offered 2022 QB Tanner Bailey of Gordo last night according to J Lee. I think his dad played QB for Auburn in the 80s. We were wanting to wait to offer when we saw him, but I believe Saban sped up the process once he offered first.

All correct, and what Sandman said. Dad (district judge) posts on the bunker. Grandfather played at Alabama for Bryant

Big arm. I’d be surprised if we push hard for him based on who Morris has targeted so far
