What you Baws doing this weekend. Small Christmas party tomorrow for me, working Sunday through Wednesday then shutting it down for a few days.

Had some boat problems that appear to be fixed now. Going to take a few days and catch some fish. No trips, no bait making.

Tonight we drink and listen to some tunes....

Hope you are all safe and well over the holidays

My peace offering for each of you..

And her to serve it to you

Last minute shopping. Cooking some dry aged steaks on the Egg. Will shop for some good brews for the week. Not give a frick about football. Enjoy life.

How’s it going over there Lanier? I believe you sent me your fishing gear prior to this pandemic and now your face covering is serving its purpose daily.

Doing well actually. Best year we have ever had business wise. COVID running rampart right now in north Georgia. Just sticking close to home and trying to make some money.

I’ve been learning to cook on my Primo. My steaks are coming out great as is my burgers. I’m adding a little smoke (apple) to them. I did a couple of beer can chickens and they were good. Not great. I will be smoking our turkey next week. Just hope I don’t frick that up.

You?

Wife has a full 2 weeks off for the first time I can remember. Really happy for her because 2020 kicked her arse

Tonight I drink and freeze my arse off because we can’t sit inside anywhere

You’ll do fine on the Turkey and the family will love it. They are usually an easier cook. Just make sure the temp doesn’t get too hot and you’ll be Golden. I usually set the coals and get the fire lit then put the plate setter on with the vents open for a few minutes when I see the temp rising. Once I see that I close the bottom vent with a little air flow and the top slightly more open. It usually maintains the desired temp you want. Just need to check on it.

It takes some getting use to in that regard but once you nail it, it’s amazing.

This year has been nuts man. Working from home full time and workload increasing to all time highs. Miss the in person interactions but it’s has some perks. Lots more time at home with fam. It’s always a grind but happy to be alive and well.

Aren’t you in Colorado? It has to be cold as hell.

We have lies in the 20’s right now. Don’t even care for that. My wife is off for 5 days but they are making her work Christmas Eve. She is not happy about it. 23 years of seniority and she has never worked Christmas Eve before.

Imma share my steak recipe. I know everyone had their favorite but give it a shot.

Seasoning: rub with olive oil then liberal amounts of Kosher salt, black pepper, Garlic powder.

Cool indirect on your primo or egg or joe or whatever at around 225 until it reaches a certain temp. For instance I like a 1 1/2 in strip and I pull it at 115.

Put a cast iron pan on the grill brushed with grape seed oil and bring the grill up to ~ 600 degrees. Sear steaks about 90 seconds a side with lid down.

Finish with a compound butter of garlic and Rosemary.

I also like to reduce a finely sliced onion and deglaze with some red wine to serve as a garnish.

No I’m gonna go back to melting about our coach

We’ve had like 4-5 snow events in the past 10 days. It’s somewhere below freezing. At some point you don’t bother with knowing the temperature

I’d rather work Christmas than Christmas Eve. That’s my night to get trashy

You are right about the weird year. I bought my wife a nice watch a few years back from a local jewelry store. Took it up there today to get the battery changed. I had a mask on but before I was allowed in the store, they made me put gloves on and made me pull my mask down and take my picture. WTF?

Then they said they were not changing any watch batteries right now. I asked why not because the watch I bought from them comes with lifetime replacements.

You ready for this?

Because of COVID.

Damn man. I don’t put that much effort in my steaks. That is beautiful.

I’m mostly cooking ribeyes. Letting them get to room temp with Montreal steak rub. Getting my primo at a steady 500. Throw them on there about 2 mins per side. Medium rare to medium. At first I was over cooking them but I seem to have that under control now.

Yours probably taste just as good but I have two small kids so grilling and alcohol is all I have left at the moment.

Four roses at the moment. Probably some scotch later. What u got in that glass?

I’m banging some peanuts Christmas album.

I am going cheap and white trash tonight. Captain Morgan spiced rum and Sprite Zero. Just felt like something clear. No shame

Tomorrow I will be at my brother in laws and he likes vodka so it will probably be vodka tonics all night.

My oldest just moved out and my youngest is 19 but I remember having little kids. I feel you.

For entertainment, I have some Gilmour at Gdansk on the smart TV. Home alone is outstanding for me. Wife is shopping with her friends.

Had a last minute change of plans. Refrigerator crapped out and have spent the day trying to find another with out going too extravagant. Seems another COVID hit, with the supply chain, and not enough parts to meet demand. Most all that's acceptable are the too small or top of the line. . . if your lucky.

Weekend will be taking down a cabinet to go taller and then resizing it in time for Christmas. At least finally getting something that I've been wanting for a while.

and

Thankfully there's plenty of ice in the freezer.

Had one of these red heads for a fiance once. That's like a two hour job and like this lady she didn't really need to waste the time.

I’d been ok with a 2 hour job 15 years ago. Im not sure I’m up for that much work these days.

Refrigerators are near the top of the list things to buy that are the most pain in the arse. Even before covid.

My son and his fiancé moved in together. We bought them a washer and dryer from Home Depot. Took over 2 months to get it. Sucked. Inventory on everything is scarce right now.
