You are watching Thorne suck in games and talking about practice reps. I hope the guy is good in practice. He has several years experience at apparently having good practice reps and shitty game reps.

No one here thinks much of Thorne. The problem is that if he’s starting and there’s likely a good reason why.

It is a fact that our starting QB threw FIVE interceptions ( refs took one off of him) in an out of conference game today. An SEC team that is serious about football would in all likelihood bench a QB that had that type of performance.

If another problem is identified that led to the five interceptions then that area should be addressed NOW.

It depends on if there’s something better behind him.

Oh yeah

I remember 5 or 6 or so for each side that were most adament about their beliefs on their hire. You, Freep, LCT, Randy, and so on.

Maybe. Maybe Thorne is blowing everyone else away based on the way they practice. It’s also not out of the realm of possibility that a younger guy that doesn’t practice as well as Thorne could go out there and not completely shite the bed and cost you a game. Thorne could practice like a fifth year senior but he isn’t playing in the games like one. He hasn’t played to his experience level since he’s been here.

My issues were always regarding image. Not on his scheme.

But we’re here now and as much as people complain scheme isn’t the problem. Folks just don’t get that. It’s that he’s still working with huge gaps that aren’t something that can be fixed in a a short span.

We are *still* working with a stopgap caretaker at QB and a line that puts Swiss cheese to shame in pass pro. That doesn’t get fixed 1.1 seasons in.

Corrall threw for 6 INTs and 5 INTs in two seperate games in his junior year and their backup wasnt horrible.

Again with the fallacy that “it can’t be much worse.”

It very much can.

I'm fairly certain Freeze said in a fall camp presser that no QB was particularly close to Thorne in regards to decision making (5 INTs) and offense familiarization.

It can get better or worse. Won’t ever know until you give the next guy a chance. We know it’s not remotely good right now.

I think we’ve also established that Thorne is the best in practice. His decision making and anything else in practice doesn’t seem to be translating to games. He’s not even close to average. If they’re seeing the same Thorne in practice that we’re seeing in games then you might as well cut every QB on the roster.

The coaches see the reps more than we do. For all we know Hank might be throwing picks to the scout team D every other play.

The backup is often the most popular guy on the team for the fans but that doesn’t mean he’ll be better.

All I know is, #3 for Cal caught as many passes from Thorne as any of Auburn's receivers, and Thorne had more carries than Hunter. Not much else to say.

True and that part really sucks. Unless Freeze wants his recruiting headway to disappear he better get on it.

Agreed. They also would’ve replaced him after watching that all season long last year.

Freeze is a good recruiter. I’m hoping (beyond the lure of exposure for the NFL) that he’s heavily selling “Rome wasn’t built in a day and with you we could be great.” to these kids.

Take your pick. It’s not hard to upgrade from one of the worst QBs in the country.
