Is anyone here starting to think Muschamp is Tanners "boogie man". I mean if he is at the top of the list now why not make it happen. A poll showed that 65% of SC fans don't want him. Is Tanner just going through the formalities only to hire someone else a little less exp. and say well at least it wasn't Muschamp

Well he wouldn't make it happen quite yet because his buyout doesn't go to 0 until Sunday.
Sunday is when all the coaching changes stuff actually happens.
Personally, I don't think Muschamp gets the USC offer unless they miss on some other guys.

I thought the buyout went away when our season ended and only extended to Sat if we were playing in the game.

Apparently you're right. Just read a few seconds ago about that.

There ia an aspect I don't believe we have discussed here yet. Can Gus even afford to hire TRob? Gus has to win big next year or he's likely gone. It would be very risky for him to hire a guy that has to learn on the job & be great out of the box in TRob w/ his job on the line. Some of us may not like it but if Boom leaves it may be best for Gus to go all in on a guy like Pruitt to help give him the chance to win big & buy him a couple more years after next year even if JP leaves next year.

That is how i see it. If Malzahn can hire another big time DC with very good credentials, that is his best and strongest move.
But, with a NEW DC comes another philosphy, more player evaluations again, and someone new the current recruits have to know again and feel comfortable with. TRob gives you that continuity and all the other things he learned under Muschamp. He just lacks experience.
I just dont know which way is the better approach, if Muachamp leaves.
