Force Gus into doing things he otherwise might not do? We've already tried that with Lindsey and Gus moving aside some.
I don't mean us forcing him. I mean the realities of the circumstances could "force" him. Gus did something with Nick Marshall he won't do again (completely modifying an offensive approach to a brand new player), so throw out that example for the moment.
My belief is that these days he has an idealized version of his perfect offense in his head and that offense requires a fairly precise fit, which is hard to grow and/or hard to get via transfer. If we're counting on him finding or truly developing that guy, I think that'll be a rarity. See Stidham. Nix could still become his idyllic QB, or maybe not, but if I think there is still some chance Gus could grow the offense around Nix even if Nix can never run the O like Gus envisions it.
My hope is that Gus spending 2-4 years with a competent QB in Nix could lead Gus to the conclusion that Nix isn't capable of doing exactly what Gus envisions, but as he trusts and has grown Nix and knows he's capable of some things that can win games, he'll stop trying to force a square peg into a round hole and modify the offense as a result. Essentially, a less drastic version of what happened with Nick Marshall, over time, with Gus coming to the conclusions himself.
I don't think Gus will be willing to modify his offense via external pressure, nor do I think he'll do it if he's constantly feeding new talent into the offense that he doesn't know/trust.
