His statement was only "talent doesn't help coaching."

Are you really going to defend that abomination of logic?

Secondly, you act like coaches that stock up on talent are destined to fail in A&M fashion. Pastor Hew once stocked up at Ole Miss and he did fine. Smart, Urban, Ryan Day, etc they are all following the similar path when it comes to recruiting.

Admittedly, none has flat-out come and say they dont give a shite about meaningless bowls, like the way Freeze has insinuated. But when it come to coaching, I can show you clips where Freeze coached well. Freeze motivated well and then coached well as a matter of fact. Hell, he has already won a Sugar Bowl.

The current Auburn coach has 2-3 head scratchers every year just look at his track record. Worst three losses this szn lsu, new mexico fricking state, and maryland. Everything else was reasonable for a year one imo.

Yeah, lsu not a headscratcher loss. I started with the two glaring headscratchers being terps and new mex st and then I started looking at loss margins so yeah, my mistake.

Assistants doing recruiting only gets you so far. The HC needs to recruit the big dogs personally. The big dogs want to know the HC is involved.

I think that’s a fair point, but I also think Freeze was doing too much recruiting and not enough game planning. There are 24 hours in a day; it can be easy to get caught up in conversations with recruits, family members, high school coaches, etc. and neglect getting the team you have ready to play.

Recruiting no doubt was the area that needed the most work after how awful the Harsin experience was. At times I wonder how we got to a bowl game after scraping the bottle of the barrel for transfers last season, but then I wonder how a team that came within single digits of beating Alabama and Georgia could end up 6-7 with an embarrassing, ill-prepared bowl loss. The best coaches, even and especially Saban and Smart, have a hand in everything, but they know when to delegate responsibilities. I fear that Freeze either doesn’t trust some of his assistants, or perhaps he is being stubborn and wants to try and do too much in multiple areas and is wearing himself down.

I’m good with Freeze recruiting and if he thinks bowls don’t matter just say it plainly sbd not all the little excuses popping up.

However, he’s going to need to figure out how to do them all well as other successful coaches have and are doing.

Meh he knew this first season was gonna be ugly and wanted to focus on recruiting. He tried to grab coordinators he thought could run their side of the ball with no oversight while he focused on recruiting and the coordinators failed.

Hopefully he’ll turn his attention more towards the game plan aspect next year. But I doubt it, he’s still in build mode.

Imagine being paid over $6 million a year, having a month to prepare, and notifying your employer and fan base you did not have time to put together a game plan while your team gets humiliated by a bad Big 10 team with its 2nd and 3rd string QBs. The AU administration needs to make it real clear to the rev that we are not Ole Miss and this shite does not fly here.

I believe with transfer portal, NIL, and opt out of bowl games these kids don’t care and are not interested in anything other than big games.

This team has WAY less talent than you'd think

This team has enough talent to comfortably beat NMSU at home and avoid being blown out by a middling Big 10 team without their star player. This isn't a talent issue. At this point, I'm not even sure it's a head coach issue. I see the same routine over and over again. Green former Auburn players all over the coaching staff, old Auburn journeymen being brought back in to "assist". Head coaches seemingly detached from major parts of their job.

We have a booster problem. And in the age of NIL, that's a problem that isn't going away.

This year was the first full season of him trying to clean the mess left behind by two former coaches Both Freeze and Deon proved this can't be done by the portal alone ......it takes several classes to get the base to build on.

Freeze is the face ....while the other teams are sending nothing but assistants .......Freeze is there to prove to Mom and Dad that Johnnie will be safe in his hands ...

Yea o don’t care how much freeze is focusing on recruiting. If our coaching staff is so bad that we can’t even show up as a team unless the HC is fully involved in the game plan and playcalling, we are fricked.

If the coaching staff can't get it done when the HC isn't hands on, it is time for a new staff.

Every coach has several head scratchers. The problem being with the fans that know no better. Succeed, hero, fail, stinky goat.
