I have no problem with the shirt... not really the type of shirt I would wear and I have no problem with the messaging as long as back ground money isn't going to a Marxist group I have no problem with it. I don't feel the need to wear a shirt that says hey I like all people i'm not racist.

What a crock of shite tshirt. Auburn should be ashamed of it. Auburn is already united. The shirt implies we are not.

I don't really have an issue with the shirt other than it looks like crap.
Funds will be used by Auburn to recruit a more diverse student body. Not a big deal.

It is an ugly shirt lol.
Everyone already knows AU = Family.
Why do we need a more diverse student body? Why not accept the top students regardless of race, religion, ethnicity...
not meant for a debate because we have plenty of those that spring up on here and I'm usually in on them.

We need a program to encourage more diversity of opinion in the College of Liberal Arts. Too many Stalinists.

this is on the website for the shirt...
A portion of proceeds will support the University’s goal of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion among its student body, which is key to its educational mission.

Chex it isn't AU only. I understand the sentiment but this is throughout all education institutions from K-post grad.
The real issue is economics and not diversity. The real issue is personal responsibility not inclusion.
There will always be racists everywhere regardless of how a school or university is. My question is if there is so much racism why not videos, why the fake race crimes (Jussie Smollet). Why fake being a minority (Rachel Dolezal, Shaun King, Jessica Krug, Elizabeth Warren) if being a minority is holding so many back? Why the fake ebonics from these fake minority's?

What are the racial make-ups of MGM public schools versus private schools?
What are the rates for college acceptance in each?
What are the funding rates per capita?
What caused the private schools to “split” from the public schools?

quote:yes, have you been there? institutionally, it’s disproportionately white with a checkered racial past it tries to bury. Individually, there are racist folks everywhere, are you kidding me? I’ve got story after story from marching band alone (the one that blew up and forced a lot of changes while I was there involved some of the tuba seniors nicknaming one of the black freshman literally the n-word)
So Auburn is a racist school?
quote:Because it’s my alma mater and literally my home and I want to see it be a better institution? Seeing faults shouldn’t immediately elicit a desire to ditch it or burn it down.
Why do you support it then?
I was born and raised on that campus. I’m a fourth-generation alumnus with a family history of working at/for the university itself.

quote:I like the implicit assumption here that white politicians DO have their constituents’ best interests at heart (shoutout to Mike Hubbard, Robert Bentley, etc. etc.). I grew up in Montgomery politics and I can promise you there’s no difference between the vast majority of the politicians regardless of party lines

Are we just going to sidestep the issue of school funding entirely, then? How do Montgomery public schools get funding?
