I haven’t seen much of him running but he doesn’t look “fast”.

Looks like the state of Alabama is trying to put a bill in place to make NIL money exempt from state taxes

I know Georgia has already done that. What a fricked up thing to do. Im sure the hard working people in those states appreciate kids getting millions to play a game dont have to pay their share

I guess they think it will help bring in more people since the states of Tennessee and Florida do not have state tax.

If you are a hard working person who is paying that state tax, it sucks that someone getting paid millions to play ball gets a pass

Meemaw will hopefully kill it. Make Cam Coleman and Ryan Williams pay their taxes.

Eh, guess I'm more of a slut for football than you guys lol. If Georgia, Texas and other southern states bend the knee to this nonsense then it would put us at a tremendous disadvantage not to fall in line. Them getting a tax break isn't right, but since it doesn't affect my life (directly) who cares. We already treat these dudes like Gods and now it's time to up the ante LOL. All jokes aside, I think they should change the rule to only allow Juniors or 3rd year players who've contributed to the program and community to get paid. I would also put a cap on what EVERY program can pay so the Texas and Ohio St of the world can't just overpay and buy everyone. We're in this mess and it's ALL or Nothing now.

Id be interested in how old you are Johnny. I get what you are saying but there are things in life more important than college football.

If its OK for them not to pay then what about other millionaires? Maybe none of them should pay either. Then the bulk of the requirement will lie on everyone else. You know, me and you.

Im sure Im probably the minority here but I just do not agree with that thinking. If they have some reason NOT to pay, it had better be more than, "We want our athletic programs to have a advantage in recruiting"

That is just weak sauce.

Athletes are catered to enough. Military sign on bonuses should be tax free before shootey hoop or run forrest run.

I hold politicians and civil servants to a higher standard than some 17 year old 5* 4* or 3* athlete from Foley or moody Alabama. The politicians might let me down, lol but I'm more disappointed when they do. Perry Thompson or Cam Coleman however? There's only 1-2 guys like that per class and maybe 7-10 who make life-changing dollars. The average NIL is 10 -50k not a million or even 6 figures. I also said it would make more sense to NOT pay a kid till he's proven he can help up BUT that's not what Congress wanted. Like I've said before, we can adjust or get crushed under the weight of change. That's life...... You don't have to agree though man that's America lol

Sounds like something that's bigger than football, but yeah I agree. I got to say though respectfully, I hate it when someone says something like "these teachers make 40k and you're gonna pay a movie star millions"? I wish we could pay active service people more and Birmingham offices a fair wage, but they can't run a 4.4 and society has been built this way. Cam generates millions in revenue so he makes millions. (Wished we valued them good hardworking people more but that's what it is.)

So they should just go on the state payroll forever. You know because it might help recruiting.

No carve outs. Have we learned nothing from the federal government about giving breaks and giving money away.

I will be very disappointed if this passes and Meemaw signs it. Will show the ignorance of our state politicians

Again, I wish we had a cap. I wish we valued other professions as much as we do entertainment but we don't. Maybe you guys do, but (most) could care less. Wouldn't a successful Auburn help the state, provide more jobs, generate more money from merchandise and restaurants in the area would thrive? Isn't it all tied together? I'm shocked that THIS is the breaking point for some. Like come on dude, the horse has been out of the barn for a looong time now. and without getting too political on the sports board THIS is what will show the ignorance of our state politicians?????? After the last 20 years NOW it's gone to far? Man just sign CD Morgan and let me watch the place burn

I do actually agree with some of what you said, just not all of it

I dont think we can try to separate who "should be paying" and who shouldnt by where they come from or how old they are.

Income is income and they are no different than another Auburn student who is flipping burgers down the street when they are not in school. They all need to be paying equally and its honestly the only way society can work.

Yes it will. Meemaw has been a fine governor. She’s old so catches shite for that and she may be slow in making some decisions final but she has generally made the right decisions.

The issue is political because you are talking about taxes. These kids get enough. Hell it was enough when they got a free education, room, food etc.

I’m a dad that has 2 in college now. You know how much that shite cost me? I don’t get a fricking tax break.

So frick dem kids
