Any of us who was on the original AE knows ST, knows his stuff, I don't know for sure what is up,but something is brewing.

I don't get the vibe that he has "inside sources" to any degree more than the average fan that lives in Auburn might have.

He seems to be the message board guy that crunches numbers and analyzes what he sees, just to a much higher level.

Oh, BTW Ross, you are confusing Stat Tiger and AU Sports Talk. ST = SportsTalk (author of the tweet) and yes he is very much in the know..

Well, the AUF thread just got locked down. We'll see what if anything happens soon enough. I'm out for the night as well.

Definitely, I don't think I have ever seen him wrong on anything. However, I will believe it when I see it. If we do get BP, than I wouldn't be to surprised at all if it happened this weekend or the week after, especially if we lose both of the next two games. Season is basically over, especially if we lose against Vandy. Might as well go ahead and give him the boot and let the new coach get to work on recruiting and getting to know our players.

Though, I really don't think Chzik will be fired this year. I mean, he surprised us and won a NC in 2010, he exceeded most experts expectations in 2011. I really think he will be given one more chance to find a better OC and be given it one last go.

ST Tweets something going down n AU this weekend.
Also could involve Petrino. On AUfamily.

I can't tell you how pissed I would be if this were true. Chiz and Petrino aside, we better have a legitimate fricking coaching search this time. I don't want to hear bullshite lines like "Money is no object" I don't want someone named days after Chiz is let go. I want real, valid and qualified coaches contacted and interviewed. Don't just hand the job to Petrino simply because he is available. If they let Chiz go, they better take their fricking time selecting the next coach. I want the best man for the job.

The best man for the job might not be available if we wait til the end of the season.

I'm not convinced Petrino is the best man for the job.

Let's get real here, most coaching searches are decided well before it gets to the interviewing stages. Feelers and backroom discussions usually have these things sorted out well before then. If they reached out to Jimbo and he said he'd most likely stay at FSU, and the folks in charge like Petrino more than Strong or any other likely target they've contacted, I fail to see what the huge issue would be hiring him now. It would actually give us a much much better shot of maintaining our recruiting class.

I can understand being pissed about Petrino being hired, as I'd be pretty torn on him myself. But if we are going to hire him faster is better for our program. And from a pure coaching standpoint the only legit option that might be stronger than Petrino is Fisher, and despite all the rumors and previous connections I can see no real reason for him to make a completely lateral or slight downgrade move from FSU to Auburn.

I fail to see what interviews are going to bring to the table anyway, I want our next coach picked based on how well he's coached and recruited, not based on how well he freaking interviews.

Reaves was pretty high on the Auburn has a great shot to turn La'el Collins bandwagon a couple years back, and missed on a few others that year, but he's pretty spot on when he does comment for the most part, particularly these days when he doesn't predict as much.

AUstudent is even more accurate, I've never seen him blow smoke ever. Combine that with Jonesy hearing similar things and it's very interdasting.

What I AM hearing from a decent source with inside connections in the Football program, is that IF we lose on Saturday, CBVG will take over for the rest of the year while we pursue a change. We do not want to be last in line for a coach.

Do you not remember the last coaching search and who was in charge of it?? It was Jay Jacobs, and if you recall correctly, he made this huge deal about "conducting the search the right way" He didn't back channel anyone, he went directly to schools to seek permission to talk to coaches. I guarantee you that if he leads this search and takes the same approach, no coach worth a shite is going to talk to him with half a season and the bowl games to be played. I have zero faith in him to make the right hire

Seemed to be a line of thought on AUF last night. I would have said no way that happens several days ago, but it does make some sense to me and that is exactly what happened in 1998. We fired Bowden at this point in the season, Oliver took over from his DC position, discussions were had with Tubs and we locked him up well before the season was over behind closed doors.

If we are indeed searching, I doubt Jacobs is playing much of a role in the search and may be bypassed completely.

Jacobs hitched his wagon to Chizik. If we are going to make a move I believe Jacobs has used up his political capital in the situation already.

I also don't believe AU is dumb enough to repeat the 2003 fiasco with the exact same coach in the exact same manner. Chiz may be done after this year, but I think the NC buys him enough respect to not can him mid season. One of 2 things is gonna happen at the end of the year, either Chiz is gone and Jacobs stays or Jacobs is gone and Chiz is given 1 more year.

If Jacobs has been bypassed and is not leading the search, that means there is no faith in JJ to handle this. If there is no Faith in JJ, then he is pretty much done as well

Chizz I think you are right, there is no faith in
JJ after that bogus so called head coach search
last time. Whatever is going on, I believe that
JJ has no say so and they are taking things into
their own hands.
