From JGT

quote:

Just had an insider express serious concern about Calzada at this point. None of his throws have been notable whereas both Finley and Ashford have a few to their credit today.“

Calzada threw a Td to Shed in the middle of the field for a TD per JGT’s sauces

It would be fun to have Robby as the guy. His running ability, big arm, and being a hometown guy.

I’ve always felt he was more exciting as a QB because he just seems like a wildcard.

I would be all for it if he has continued to develop. I just want someone to step up and be the alpha, and take the job.

Apparently Ashford fumbled in the red zone and allowed a defensive TD.

Cardiac kids are back at it.

JGT says Tank has been falling and slipping all night.

Harsin Presser notes

quote:

-- Situational scrimmage with some live work tonight. Effort was good, but execution “will improve.”

-- Got a lot of players in there, gave guys opportunities. He thought team handled it well. Effort was impressive, but urgency can still improve.

-- Damari Alston and Camden Brown both stood out. Brown had a touchdown reception.

-- John Samuel Shenker also had a touchdown reception.

-- All quarterbacks did some good things. T.J. Finley “operated well tonight” and had a nice 14-play opening drive. Robby Ashford did well “making some plays and operating the huddle.” Zach Calzada was “solid.”

-- Anders Carlson made all four of his field goal attempts.

-- Quarterbacks did not go live, but Derick Hall and Eku Leota had a couple sacks combined. Well, they were credited for them anyway.

-- Craig McDonald had a 95-yard scoop-and-score for a touchdown to end the scrimmage.

-- They’ll start “diving a little bit more into the depth chart” ahead of the second scrimmage. No decisions will be made just yet.

-- Team will have Monday off after reviewing film tomorrow. Classes start Tuesday.

-- Second scrimmage is on Friday. That’s when things will get narrowed down with the two-deep.

-- T.J.’s command of the offense has been solid. He picks things up quickly, conceptionally, and recalls finer details easily. “He’s got a really good understanding of what we’re trying to accomplish, and I appreciate that.” Tonight, he executed well in some critical moments, but the quarterbacks overall could stand to improve on some of the easier throws.

-- Jayson Jones and Jeffrey M’ba have come along well on the defensive line. So has Morris Joseph Jr., who “has some subtleness to him.”
