Reports on Hunter were very good initially but he's been out for the past week or so due to COVID protocols. That might be part of the reason you haven't heard much on him.

Bo will make plays for sure just not sure which way they will be good or bad. Everyone has bad plays but consistent plays that we can run will be the factor. Obviously the QB has a big say in that but to put it all on Bo is kind of crazy.

Sounds like Tank had two fumbles this is going to be a fun season. Also reading between the lines it sounds like both Council and Hamm are out due to COVID.

What little I saw sounded like the OL had issues with pass protection again today.

So tank fumbled against bama, fumbled at Aday, fumbled the first scrimmage and now has fumbled twice today possibly? Sounds like it’s becoming a problem

It’s been a problem since HS for him. Gotta hope he figures it out or doesn’t do it at a bad time.

He had fumbling issues in high school IIRC.

I hope he's a genius on the field because away from it, so far, Harsin has been a jackass.
That sounds encouraging. The best coaches are assholes.

I'm sensing our defense is full of ballhawks

Scrimmage notes from 247

--Sophomore Ja'Varrius Johnson appeared to be the No. 1 punt returner in Friday's scrimmage.

--Receivers had problems with dropped passes.

--Quarterback Bo Nix had a good day but threw some passes at receivers' feet on rollouts.

--In a situational period, quarterback T.J. Finley, with 1:15 put on the clock and a touchdown needed to win, was sacked on first and second down.

--The scrimmage, originally scheduled to start at 6 p.m., started instead at 4 p.m. and lasted for approximately two hours.

quote:

Senior Tashawn Manning is back with the first team at left guard. Manning, who has missed some practice time and spent some time with the second team, is a returning starter. Manning worked with the second team at right guard.

--Phillip Marshall

quote:

Freshman walk-on Sean Jackson, impressive in the first scrimmage, was having a good day again. He’s a big, strong back with speed who is hard to bring down. He is making a strong case for playing time.

--Phillip Marshall

Jackson, who played well in scrimmage one, made two short touchdown runs of four and two yards. The 5-9, 236-pounder from Hewitt-Trussville High also made good runs in situation drills with the offense trying to get off the goal line.

One thing making it easier for the defense to have its way was the coaching staff limited the touches for the team's top two running backs, sophomore Tank Bigsby and senior Shaun Shivers. Bigsby scored a touchdown on a short run in situational work. A positive for the offense was it didn’t have a problem with fumbles.

— Mark Murphy

I’d take the Tank fumbles rumor with a grain of salt

Other notes

- Ro Torrence intercepted Nix
- Joko Willis intercepted Loy
- Leota had a sack
- Harris had a sack
- Hall had a sack
- JJ Evans played well
- Jordon Ingram had good runs

Looks like Alex Jackson is back from Covid (my guess).
Jarquez Hunter still out due to Covid protocol (my guess)
Dee Davis still out, also assuming Covid

Ho-hum. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Can’t wait to see what a year on a nutrition program is going to do. If he isn’t asked to play an HBack role for the team could easily see him drop down to 210-215ish and gain the long ball threat.

Ro Torrence has been a very pleasant surprise as well. We should have some stacked special teams

JJ Evans sounds like he’s made a move the past 2 weeks. I think he’s solidly number 3 behind 1DRob 2Capers at the X

Coaches are limiting Tank and Shivers because of depth concerns. Hunter is out in Covid protocols. Sean Jackson is absolutely taking advantage of every second of spotlight he’s getting and he’s making a serious case for red zone touches. Good on him. He won’t be a walk-on for long

This is another guy that needed to work on his body composition and gain experience and he’s also making the most of the moment. I’m guessing some WRs are out with Covid too. What a mess we have right now. Proud of the depth chart for stepping up. They’re going to get playing time because of it

Oh I understand the fall scrimmages you aren’t gonna run your 2 best backs in the ground. But the experience he is gaining in the playbook will go a long way. Going in I had no thoughts that he would get anything other then a couple carries this year in absolute blowouts and still don’t expect much more

With his performance so far plus the depth situation being what it is, I’d expect him to play in most games right now. He’ll probably have more snaps (albeit, maybe different role) than Hunter and Ingram
