There is a difference between playing in JHS and playing in font of 87 thousand in JHS so I'll wait until game time shows up and the noise levels are differe nt

I think Barber is going to be a future star for us, and was the player I was most excited that we added once the new staff got here.

That said, I believe he redshirts this year, due to the fact that we have two backs above him in Mason and CAP who are similar to him in size/ability. Ford will see playing time, since he fits the OMac role, and I say let Barber start getting more carries next year, along with Kamryn Pettaway and Roc (if they sign/qualify).

If Mason or CAP has a big year (I'm talking either of them rushing for 1200 and 10 TDs+) I wouldn't be surprised if either of them went Pro.

I would hate like hell if we broke our brand-new freshman quarterback.

Auburn's Justin Garrett injures left leg, wearing walking boot after Saturday scrimmage LINK
quote:

A key component of Auburn's defense suffered an injury during the Tigers' second scrimmage of fall camp.

Justin Garrett, the Tigers' breakout star of the spring and fall after moving to Star, left the field with a boot on his left foot, limping on that leg, although he was wearing full pads.

The severity of Garrett's injury was unclear.

Asked if Auburn came out of the scrimmage healthy, Malzahn didn't mention any players specifically.

"Somewhat," Malzahn said. "It was a physical deal. Each scrimmage is going to be physical. I'm sure there's some bumps and bruises."

Garrett had picked up where he left off in the spring, flying around the field from the Star position.

"He has a motor, which I like," safeties coachCharlie Harbison said Friday. "He's a quiet guy that plays fast."

If Garrett has to miss a substantial amount of time, Auburn's defensive coaches have been pleased with the play of Robenson Therezie and freshmanMackenro Alexander at the Star position.

Three weeks remain before Auburn opens against Washington State.

"Therezie and Garrett, I don’t know how many more talented kids we have on the football team, physically," defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson said. "They’re learning a position that has a lot of transition advantages to playing Star and dime."

Gives RT and Mackenro lots of reps. (Read not overly serious for JG.)

Lets see if Thereize finally lives up to the hype he got when he came in 3 years ago.

I could see Mason sticking around. Not convinced he leaves unless he is projected 3rd round or higher

I can see CAP leaving if he projects in the 3-5 range with a good season

I think Ford will be the real deal by his junior season. He has all the skills an the big knock on him is his power running which I think was underrated and will improve with weight.

I think Barber is going to be a monster but agree that he needs time in the weight room

Also I saw anthony swain leaving practice. That boy needs to look into the atkins diet. He has some bad looking weight

I think if any RB has a big year nowadays you're gonna see them leave for the NFL, since the shelf life of RBs has decreased significantly.

Rarely do RBs last past 30 in the NFL these days, and since most rookie contracts are 3-4 years, that means you realistically get 1 chance to sign a mega contract as a RB. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if anyone left early, just so they could hopefully get a lil extra time to make an impact and get paid.

Or he is the next Jake Holland. Praised praised praised then gets a high ankle sprain and turns into a grandma

Barber is our biggest RB right now and he's pretty jacked. If anyone needs to add weight, it's Ford. He looks a little slight to me and will put on more weight in time, but he will probably play this year since he gives us another dimension with his speed. Like LCT said, we've already got a power back with CAP and Mason will fill that role to some extent as well. Of course, if one of them gets hurt, Barber will see PT.

Apparently there was no Mincy,Davis or Garrett out there today so that probably helped the QBs
