We have conflicting reports now

As we were leaving practice, Bo Nix took the first rep in a red-zone passing drill. Joey Gatewood took the first snap earlier in a zone-read drill.

I think Gus was probably giving them both 1st team reps. The scrimmage can’t get here soon enough. I’m assuming Gus will let the QB’s go live?

Per BM: First team offense was Nix, Boobie, Seth Williams, Mathew Hill and John Samuel Shenker

Exactly. Reporters are just trying to stir shite right now.

FWIW, BM actually posted that Nix was QB1 in red zone but Gatewood was QB1 in zone read earlier.
So things are as usual there

Yea i totally forgot we play UF this year. But I ain't counting our DL unless the new Gus is going 1v1 on the regular. Last I recall he prefers to put the 1s against the 2s.

It may 1’s vs 2’s sometimes in 11 on 11, but our OL and DL go head to head 1 vs 1 all the time individual drills

Interesting:

Auburn HC Gus Malzahn said the quarterbacks will not go live at any point in fall camp. The Tigers did that for one scrimmage in the spring.

#PMARSHONAU: 15 years later, Tigers try to do it again
quote:
The previous season had been an 8-5 disappointment, despite having an extreme amount of talent on the field. The coach had gone through a difficult December and narrowly avoided losing his job. The offense, of which much was expected, had spewed and sputtered. There had been good news in January when key players who could have left for the NFL chose to stay. A new offensive coordinator had joined the coaching staff.
Sound familiar?
In 2003, Tommy Tuberville’s fifth Auburn team, loaded with future NFL players, lost its first two games and struggled to a 7-5 regular-season finish before beating Big Ten foe Wisconsin in the Music City Bowl.
The jetgate saga unfolded when late Auburn president William Walker and others sneaked away in the darkness to interview Louisville coach Bobby Petrino. The trip was exposed and Tuberville kept his job.
A few weeks later, running backs Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown and cornerback Carlos Rogers, all of whom would, along with quarterback Jason Campbell, be first-round draft picks in 2005 announced they would return for their senior seasons. Before spring practice, Al Borges joined the staff as offensive coordinator.
At that point, Tuberville had lost 6, 4, 5, 4 and 5 games in his time as Auburn head coach. Going into the 2004 season, Auburn was ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll.
What transpired after that was a historic run. A team some say was the best ever to take the field for Auburn went 13-0 and won the SEC championship. It should have played for the national championship.
Fast forward 15 years.
Last season’s Auburn team, Gus Malzahn’s sixth, went 7-5 in the regular season. There was no scandal like jetgate, but Malzahn survived a serious move to remove him from his job in December.
Auburn beat Big Ten foe Purdue in the Music City Bowl. Eight Auburn players, including a potential early pick in defensive tackle Derrick Brown, announced they would return for their final seasons instead of moving on to the NFL. Kenny Dillingham moved from Memphis to be the offensive coordinator.
Since going 12-2, winning the SEC championship and playing for the national championship in his first season, Malzahn has lost 5, 6, 5, 4 and 5 games in his past five seasons. Going into the coming season, Auburn is ranked No. 16.
The similarities are striking.

With the amount of injuries right now, Id say thats a good choice

Gus likened SEC punt returners to bull riders. So there’s that information.

Malzahn says QBs won’t be going live any during fall camp.
