At least this year I won’t feel like the coach treats a major rivalry game as a meh game.
Harsin didn't even mention this being a major rival in his Monday press conference.
To be fair, neither did Kirby. This playing UGA in early October is a bunch of BS. Cole Cubelic and Ben Learn were on the radio talking about how little it feels like UGA week since the game has been moved.

this is such a big game. Auburn is riding in high off a win with all the confidence behind them. At home in Jordan Hare. Defense is stout. Offense hopefully starting to believe.
Georgia cruising through their schedule. Dominating defensively and imposing their will offensively.

I agree with all of this. I think the crowd is going to be electric on Saturday. I know people going to this game that haven't been back to Auburn in years. Also, UGA really doesn't do anything that special on offense. On the road, with their backup QB, I think they are just going to try to run the ball and keep Bennett from making mistakes.
Can our defense take that next step and put 4 straight quarters together? I have a feeling this game might look much closer to UGA's first game of the season against Clemson, except I expect Hunter to break off another huge run in this game when we need it most. If we get in the redzone can we convert to touchdowns? I think we may need to have some special red zone plays lined up for this game if we get the chance.

Trust me, I felt dirty just typing it. But this UGS defense gives up 60 yards a game on the ground and has allowed two touchdowns this year, both in garbage time. South Carolina had an interception returned to the UGA 12 yard line, and went 3 yards on 3 plays and kicked a field goal. If we can run the ball in the red zone, then we might have a better shot in this game than any of us think, but we have to find a way to score. It might just be running Bo in the red zone, or getting in some formations with Hunter and Tank on the field.

He cares about the rivalry and history but he said he is focused on what is current and who they face Saturday.

Yes, first-year Auburn coach Bryan Harsin said, he has heard about the tradition of the Auburn-Georgia rivalry. But his mind was not on the series that started in 1892 or about the stories of games long past. He was focused on the days leading up to Saturday, when No. 2 Georgia plays No. 18 Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
“I know the history. I’ve heard that,” Harsin said Wednesday on the SEC coaches weekly teleconference. “The great thing about being at a place like Auburn is there is a lot of history, but that’s not my main focus as I watch Georgia and how they play. I’m trying to look at the current events as they are going on.
“The fun part about being at a program like Auburn, that tradition and history, is what makes the SEC and programs like Auburn so special, but the focus is on 2021. That’s enough.”

I like Coach Harsin more and more. He’s very pragmatic.

Time to dust off the wirlybird?
I'd prefer us executing the red zone plays we're best at that are already on our play list.
No need to get cute.

Unfortunately - I think UGA is just considerably better than us. No big deal, outmanned teams beat better teams all the time, but if they're 21 points better and play decently we'll need a lot of juju, breaks and some exceptional individual performances.
My standard for the year is that I wanted us to get better through the season and play at least to our level. So I'm trying to keep it in perspective and I'll reluctantly tip my hat if we just get beat by a better team.
I am looking to see that we put up a major fight in this game. Coming off an emotionally exhausting LSU game on the road, this is a "trap" for both, I think. UGA is cruising and feels they're on another level (probably true) and Auburn is riding a recent high. I'd love to catch UGA off their game, but I'm very wary of that for us as well.

Yeah, I think this is where I'm at too. I'm just ready to see the trajectory of the program going in the right direction. At best, over the past 3 seasons, the trajectory has been flat. We didn't see improvement.
They've already accomplished something that the last two guys couldn't in winning in BR. They weren't embarrassed in primetime in Happy Valley. Yes, it's still a loss and I understand that. But that's a program led by a top 10 coach in CFB in his 6th or 7th year building that program. Under our previous regime, I don't think most of us would have even have a tiny bit of optimism going on the road in that game.
Should this team go on to upset Georgia or Bama this year, that's amazing and I'll celebrate like hell. But if not and our boys take losses in those, I'd like it to look like we were a competent team that actually believed they should be on the same field. Not getting blown out by TDs isn't the standard, but being respectable in those games, at least in a new coach's first year, shows progress. That's something we can be happy about and something the team can build upon for the future.

I don't know if you've noticed, but every QB we've played in the past five years magically becomes a Heisman contender. Not that we're not running good coverage, but they ALWAYS put the ball exactly where only their dude can get it
So we are due for a QB to throw a few pick 6s

I don’t think uga is anywhere near the complete team that others do. I think bammer is far superior and would beat them by 14.
I also think we are not as good as we hope we are.
Our OL will not be able to block their front.
Bo Nix is not a good enough passer to hit the WRs in stride in the center of the field.
Mason will play the weak zone and give up tons of yards for the entire 1st half.
Pappoe is still not 100% so we can’t stop the run.
I see no scenario that we score more than 9 points.
The ugly mutts running game will score more than that before half.
Screw Gus and his horribleOL recruiting.
I would like to apologize for being wrong on these points.
