Bruce was a great coach, but more importantly, he was one of the best motivators in the game. Through the power of his personality, he sold Auburn basketball to recruits, boosters and fans.
Steven is not his father in this respect and he's learning on the job in a big shadow. His dad did him no favors. He SHOULD be cutting his teeth at a smaller program and we should have tried to find a replacement that could keep our level of play on some relatively comparable level to where we were. I don't see why we would keep Steven another year. This roster is largely out the door and he's going to have a very hard time bringing in enough difference makers in one year to improve things. And he's not a dynamic personality, so there's always the risk of losing our traditionally fragile non-football fan support when both the wins aren't there and there isn't a coach actively selling the program like Bruce could. I know we'll give him another year, but in the NIL world, I'm not sure it makes sense.

What hill am I dying on? I said SP has to be better. There's no question about that. Multiple things can be true. Bruce fricked everyone, SP needs grow a lot as coach and needs to have a good year next year and the players sucked.
I can see that logic AUcom.. but as you said, they aren't going to make that change after one year anyway.

Steven gets another year but we’ll know the trajectory of the program based on replacing this roster. I’m not optimistic.

Same, i bet next years roster is gonna be a downgrade from this year. Any players looking at us can likely tell the locker room was a shitshow. I also wouldn’t be surprised if a couple assistants leave as well.

I already know Bruce screwed his son as far as optics go, but that means nothing to me. He screwed his son by making him an heir successor to a defending final four program making 3 million a year also. The problem for most is our program was elevated and the hire was less than Lebo level. Going backwards is not characteristic of a serious program.

Pearl clarified that Murphy is a good kid and he's only been late to anything just that one time but he was remaining consistent in discipline.
I think the reaction to the discipline was overblown. So what he didn't start. He still played solid minutes. It was his minutes when he did play that tanked the Ole Miss game as he and 5 others performed horribly.
