Draft value is 1.7 million. Who knows what he does.

shite, I'd probably take the money and I don't blame him if he does. But if he feels like he can improve his draft value and earn even more money with 3 years of college ball and Butch then that would be awesome for us

This one is going to depend on what the O's can get others to sign for. Henderson is likely an over slot guy.

How long do draftees have to decide?

Typically a couple months, most make a decision sooner. I expect we'll know by July.

Maurice Hampton turned down 1.8 million this year to play at LSU - hopefully this kid will do the same.

Just tweeted by Sam Blum:

Onto the fifth round of the MLB Draft, and Will Holland has not been called yet. Auburn's expectation was fourth round at the very worst (though likely 2nd or 3rd round), and Butch said in April that Holland was still a first-round SS.

All of you should give him a follow if you like baseball - he tweets about Auburn baseball more than any of the other auburn reporters.

Holland was taken in the 5th round as the 149th pick to the Twins

If I were him I would stay at AU. I can't imagine he will get much money as a 5th round draft pick. If he has a good year next year it will dramatically increase his stock.

Another tweet from Blum referencing an article by Keith Law:

This article blames Auburn's coaching staff for Will Holland's offensive struggles — saying they altered his swing/2-strike approach. Really interesting comments from @keithlaw, who is definitely an authority on this topic.

I agree. We should give him one more year but if our offense struggles again next year we need to consider our options.

Orioles fan here. Pretty sure he signs. We have the first pick and with that comes a high draft pool of money. Our new GM is pretty versed at the draft and typically we know someone’s price before drafting.

There’s no leverage in being a senior draftee. As long as he gets close to slot, he’ll sign.

He was projected as a second rounder so I would say he didn’t come close to slot. From reading his tweet it looks like he will probably sign

I was seeing 2-4 round. 5th round is close. Don’t know why he’s want to take the chance next year. Someone offers him 10K next year after getting drafted, what’s he gonna do?

The average signing bonus for that slot is about $346,000.
