He quit on his team...he was asked to redshirt and stay with the team. He chose to leave.
He was in a tough spot, but character is revealed in such situations. I suspect his choice will prove to be a mistake long term for him, but I wish him the best.
Redshirt...isn't that what he did anyway? He simply could have remained apart of the team with his teammates till the end of the season then used the graduate transfer protocol. IMO he wouldn't have burned his bridges at Clemson and I know for a fact he did burn them.
Alumni...they help former players all of the time. It shows a lack of understanding of the complexity of the network that players have at their disposal once their playing careers are over that you don't recognize this reality. Pick any beloved Auburn player and ask yourself if they have advantages in their future thanks to the Auburn Alumni network? The answer is, of course they do!
Clemson fans believed he quit on his team. He did. Players tend to take a more realistic approach to guys quitting and I can say from direct knowledge Dabo did a masterful job managing the emotions of his team behind the season to help the matter.

He played 4 games. What’s the purpose of redshirting?
He did redshirt last season anyway...he also quit the team. He didn't have to make that choice to redshirt.
In case anyone doesn't understand he by NCAA by-laws redshirted for 2018. Dabo honestly did him a favor telling him 4 games in instead of 5, Dabo believed he would stay with the team and use the fall to train and help in the QB room.

I think you’re too emotionally involved for whatever reason to see he did the right thing.
You do realize he already played in four games. Lawrence got hurt and he would have played in his 5th game and wouldn’t have been able to redshirt. Virtually no difference in what he did and what you think he should have done. What do you think would have happened had he said, I’m redshirted so don’t ask me to step in for Lawrence? He would have been crucified.
You keep on with he’s a rat bastard though bro.

KB isn’t an NFL QB so it’s a “who gives a shite” to me. It’d been another bandaid on the wound to have to pull off next year. We need to know what CGM can do with this years team and QB(s). KB can extend plays with his legs but was about the same at passing as Nick Marshall. Some have said he’s even worse.

I never said what you suggest about him. I know he was offered an opportunity to redshirt and remain with the team being used in prep, etc...as well as have the facilities at his disposal. He opted to leave. He wouldn't have been used in an injury scenario unless he desired to burn his redshirt. If you want to argue the possibility of having to stay on the bench in that scenario could have caused him issues, I'd respectfully listen. I'd disagree but listen.
I know what was offered. And I know what he chose.

Well, if you can't win the job at Clemson you aren't likely an NFL QB

If you look at Lawrence's entire body of work and not just the post season...it's hard to imagine many returning starters losing the job to him with a team still in the hunt for a championship. Lawrence is special, but it's hard to lose the job once you got it if you keep winning.
