LINK All I can say is Gus needs to start developing QB’s or his future will be bleak and short here

Yup, definitely not because of Nix and Gatewood. Definitely because of Gus and Derek fricking Dooley.

This is Gus’s 7th season. And while I’ll totally endorse that it’s been inconsistent and disappointing it hasn’t been short or bleak.
Anyhow, Bryant wants to play in the NFL and chose his final year to play in an NFL system. He did not choose Missouri to win football games. There’s no way around that. Don’t blame him.

We’re probably better off without that dude anyways in the long run. KB offers nothing that Nix or Gatewood doesn’t offer other than experience

I am hoping we can benefit from one of these guys playing for two or three years instead of the QB carousel every spring.

Keep in mind that he has to give props to Mizzou while at SEC Media Days. Real reason he chose Mizzou was that he was virtually guaranteed the starting job. Seeing as he lost the job to a true freshman last year at Climp Son, he couldn't afford for that to happen again.

He quit on his team...there is no way that could ever translate into success as a QB. The new rule may make quitting four games into a season permissible but you still quit on your team. It's a choice that reflects a persons character.

He lost the job to arguably the best NFL QB prospect since Peyton Manning. I bet he could start for most SEC programs not named AL or UGA..

bullshite. Kelly is a NFL QB who lost his job to a once in a generation type player in Trevor Lawrance. What would you do? Sit on the bench and forego your NFL future just to appease your teammates? Frick that, Kelly absolutely made the best decision for himself and his family.

I hope he does well. I hope mizzou shocks and upsets some teams in the East.
But I do not know that him being at AU would have helped either him or the program. I would prefer to take some lumps now with guys who will likely start for multiple years.
I do not think he made the wrong call, but maybe we should watch the season progress.

Well, if you can't win the job at Clemson you aren't likely an NFL QB. However, it is still quitting on your team. The fact that he was willing to quit might be why he lost the job in the 1st place.

Kelly is not an NFL QB.
He may of made a decision that in his mind was in his best interest but he quit on his team to do it.

I would rather go with what we have than the one and done route with a average QB in KB. Gatewood/Nix>>>>Kelly Bryant

Y'all need to delete this thread. I am agreeing with Fear.
Something bad is about to happen.

Your argument is a stupid one about him quitting on his team. Technically maybe.
No one at Clemson thinks like you do. Everyone on that team would have done the same. Stop being a douche.
I’m glad he didn’t come here however, and I agree that he is not a NFL caliber QB.

That is probably the most intelligent post fear has ever made that I have seen anyway.

Most every Clemson fan in the state believes he quit on his team. He could have requested to remain with the team and take a redshirt. Dabo would have granted that requested and tried to get him to do it. He chose to walk away 4 games into the season.
He also burned bridges with the entire alumni base which IMO is his best chance for a successful future, not the NFL. I realize if he does something magical at Mizzou he'll have their support for life, but it is statistically more likely that he doesn't do much and he won't have the alumni network of Mizzou or Clemson to work as an adult. There is more to playing for these big time programs than simply making the NFL.
When offered the chance to redshirt and remain with the team, he chose to leave.

He played 4 games. What’s the purpose of redshirting? That’s still quitting, essentially, since he couldn’t play in any more.
He supposed to stand on the sidelines and watch a walk on take snaps if Lawrence gets a minor injury? How does that help? You do understand why the 4 games is important, right?

Clemson fan?
Who gives a shite about stupid fans being upset. I am referring to his teammates. Every single one would have done the same in his shoes.
It only became a thing when Lawrence was injured right away. Bryant had every right to leave after leading his team to the playoffs and then supplanted. Which I don’t fault Dabo either. Any coach that would bench Lawrence should be shot.
Could he have left in a better way? Sure
Redshirt? How would that have helped him at Clemson with Lawrence who had two more years?
No alumni is going to get him a shot in the NFL sitting on the bench with some mop up duty. By the way, you already said he wasn’t an NFL QB so how could the Alumni help anyway?
Clemson thought he was such a quitter that Dabo was willing to take him back after Lawrence was injured. You’re full of shite man. Your high horse is built on soft ground. You should get off before you hurt yourself with all that self righteousness sucking up oxygen.
