I don't have any candidates in mind but I cannot imagine Muschamp leaving his alma mater and his best friend, Kirby. Also, I can't see type A Muschamp and Harsin getting along very well.
I would just as soon promote Schmedding, tbh. He's been a DC before.

Hence their dominance and why he is so coveted by our fans. If I recall correctl, it also explains why Muschamp was so emphatic about wanting to instill a 3-4 base defense and we can see how effective it can be under his direction. Now I could be mistaken on which coach wanted to bring it to auburn years ago. But I like it because it allows for more utilization of scheming different packages. So, lets see what Mason will do under this defense with the right players. Just uncertain about his ability to evaluate but I will wait and see.

No reason to keep Bobo either.
That SOB goes Tubershell when we get a big lead, and for some inexplicable reason, goes away from what gets us ahead, then when we are struggling late, goes back to the original gameplan, and magically...it works.
They both need to go. I thought Mason was doing a good job till Saturday, but the lack of adjustments and scheme change in the 2nd half was ridiculous. He should have been fired in the locker room after the game.

Wrong.
Also didn’t see anyone complain about Steele’s 2 man rush against LSU in 2019. Or Steele’s 3 man rush against Leach everytime we played them. Or Mason’s 3 man rush in the first half. Or Mason’s defense in general vs OM & A&M.
It can work and when it does no complains. He should’ve adjusted and didn’t.

Mason and Bobo could be upgraded. I believe Mason is a higher tier than Bobo. They both need better players. A good offense makes huge impact on defense.

Players get these star rating mainly from who attends more camps, it's hard to feel out star ratings if say a high school has a bunch of mediocre opponents and just inflates their numbers, so if a dude is just not attending lots of camps but has pretty good fundamentals their star rating could be skewed.
I believe Leach's game plan all along was to outlast our endurance, we looked like a sprinter that showed up for a marathon expecting to win. Our defense just was gassed, but I think not rotating in enough is the main issue with our 4th quarter Defense and Offense--it might be a problem being in the press box not knowing what their players are looking like stamina wise.
