Pair it with green beans and a short stack

We go to the world's largest carshow in Hershey, PA more years than not. Up there they have these diners that are the size of a steakhouse, open 24 hours ,with breakfast, lunch, dinner anytime.

Buddy of mine since high school works for me, real quiet type, and we are there together. He can't decide between breakfast or dinner.

Waitress comes by, one of those real cute but kinda trashy types, redhead. Smacking chewing gum. "Alright, boys, what'll it be"

I place my order, then we get over to my buddy. "I'll start with a French Onion Soup... short stack of pancakes." Chick is writing all this down, trying not to bust out in laughter. Sarcastically, she says 'And for dessert...?"

My buddy, no lie, closes his menu, puts it down, looks her in the eye and says "Hot. Brownie. Sundae".

He took her home that night

Did they say in what capacity? QBs,Asst OC, analyst?

Going to the top of the page with this

Role not announced. I’d guess, kind of like Trovon Reed last year, they’re using him to recruit while they figure out the staff. I’d guess analyst

When our staff is complete we should all go to our local IHOPs and order salmon and pancakes that day 7 EST and break bread

confirmed Austin is recruiting and offering prospects on behalf of the Tigers.

What role will he have on Freeze’s staff?

Per Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee, Austin most likely will work with the quarterbacks as either the quarterbacks coach or analyst

From Austin’s bio at Liberty

quote:

Prior to joining the Flames’ coaching staff for the 2019 season, Austin spent the previous six seasons in the Canadian Football League, working as the head coach (2013-17), general manager (2013-15) and vice president of football operations (2013-18) for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He led the team to back-to-back Grey Cup finals in 2013 and 2014.

“Austin has also served as a head coach at Cornell (2010-12) and for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders (2007), while working as an offensive coordinator at Ole Miss (2008-10) and for the Toronto Argonauts (2004-06). Saskatchewan finished the 2007 season with a 12-6 record and Austin led the Roughriders to winning the Grey Cup.

“Following a successful 11-year professional playing career, including 10 seasons in the CFL where he threw for 26,626 career passing yards and 134 career touchdowns, Austin started his coaching career as the quarterbacks coach for the Ottawa Renegades in 2003.”

Coincidentally, I mentioned Austin two orders of pancakes and a titty bar ago. That's a good hire. If he is in a position where he can actually work with QBs, that may free up Hugh's options regarding an OC to hire. Austin is a good QB Coach.

When I was a kid, it was on the west side.

When I was in college and med school, it was on Valley.

Not that I ever, ever went in there, bit I heard they would play music, then say “1,2,3!, Drop those shorts!”

Heard about some pool games there as well.

How do I say this so you won’t jump off the ledge?

There may be no splash hires coming for this staff.

It may be only some solid hires.

If you keep holding on for a big name you may be left holding your sack or empty handed.

We were all pumped after the Freeze press conference. Nothing has changed, he is building a solid staff with a mix of good coaches and recruiters. How many splash hires are out there? Who says in 3 years we won't be saying these guys turned out to be. Let's see how things look in a couple of months. These guys finish this class strong and have momentum heading into the 2024 class I'd be happy (ish)

That’s kind of my message. What is wrong with solid hires?

Then it’s proof in the pudding time from there.

And guess what? Someone doesn't carry their weight they get replaced.

It's like that with anything. If IHOP didn't sell enough salmon it would get replaced on the menu. Obviously we don't have to worry about that

Right. And your opinion of the program should never change after a press conference.
