I'm not saying TWill should get the job either. I think ideally he would stay at UCF for another year or two.

So, who are we going to get?

Given we already hired the D Line coach, wouldn’t the DC candidate have to sign off? I guess not but, I would think so. Same for the OC and keeping Carnell. I would expect these hires to be announced by mid week

The HC is responsible for all hires, always. I’ve never heard of a WR coach reporting to the OC and not the HC.

I have stayed away from predicting who we will hire this time. I just don't think Hugh Freeze is risking his last shot on some guys that still have that much growing to do before they are DC's and Mason is a failed retread that the fanbase doesn't like. After being smart enough to hire Caddy I can't believe he's dumb enough to hire Mason.

The only two effective fits we have had at DC in the last decade were Muschamp and Steele. I'm not necessarily suggesting that we could, or should, bring either of those back -- but Hugh is going to score points, so I am hoping to God that we break the curse that has plagued us since ~2011: "You can have an offense, or a defense, but never both at the same time"

Please tell me that’s not being considered. Please.

Hoke seems to be the only one pushing this. I'll remind everyone he has been fricking wrong with every coaching search. Bill Clark, Lane and Brian Johnson. Even other shitty beat writers call him out.

It's like Hoke's 'insider source' just feeds him crap and then laughs and laughs and laughs

Hoke wasnt pushing a front running hire inJohnson. He was listing another candidate.

All that Hoke is pushing today is Kiffin is wanting a lot of money.

Matt Zenitz
@mzenitz
Auburn is expected to hire Ole Miss’ Jake Thornton as offensive line coach, sources tell @on3sports.

Thornton, a former Alabama GA, has been the Rebels’ offensive line coach the last two seasons.

Good hire. Lane would have brought him over if he would have been our coach.

Guessing we couldn't convince Matt Luke to come out of retirement. I would have rather payed more money and tried to take UGAs coach or something, but its a pretty good hire.

He is young….

Recruiting isn’t great…

We might be able to flip Brycen, his top recruit though.
