Everyone in the stadium knew Gatewood was going to run the ball.

Bama is on an elite run but I dont think “most dominant team” translates to most dominant run very well. Maybe I just read it differently. Fact of the matter is nobody has opened up a can on Bama the way that Clemson did, and they’re in the midst of their own run as well.

To the point that I made earlier today about Clemson v Bama and regarding domination by individual teams, not eras or programs, ESPN rated today the greatest teams of all time and 2018 Clemson was number 5. Highest Nick Saban Bama team (2009) was 9 or 10.

2010 Auburn was number 41 all time.

To play devil’s advocate, Tulane was also gassed and the game was over.

Where is the buck sweep? Tate, Dyer, Tre, and CAP all ran that with great success. I may have missed it but I don’t remember seeing that play often, if at all. It’s supposed to be a staple of Malzahn’s offense. Seems to have been replaced with the HB dive.

That’s not really the point. We are comparing both QB’s rushing stats when Nix had the benefit of surprise and a passing attack.

All 11 gassed defenders knew where the ball was going to go with Joey so they could sell out to him.

The best offenses we’ve had under Gus has been when everyone in the stadium knew what was coming and the defense couldn’t stop it.

We don’t have that with this OL.

Team gatewood is hoping desperately for Nix to be banged up so they can see their hero play

They wont admit it, but you know its true.

Don’t tell anybody, but I’d settle for a chance to see the backup run the full offense so I could see what Gatewood can actually do.

Early fanhood side of me agrees with what he said.

But you know, we know the tall task ahead, and being ranked inside the top ten at some point in the season isn’t really new to us. I believe it’s been like that every year in Gus’s regime.

Thanks for sharing

The fumbling is fixable. Boobee didnt lay the ball on the ground alot last year. The OL deal is REAL. When folks started saying our OL had gotten better in the offseason due to experience etc, I didnt believe that. Frankly Brahms and Kim at Center are not SEC caliber players. Especially Kim. Like stidham last year, Bo Nix is going to spend some time running for his life if opposing defenses stack the middle. Vs Tulane and their 350 LB nose tackle, they couldnt move the guy, even with double teams.

The only fix for that is better OL recruiting. I think JB Grimes is a good coach, but I dont think he recruits well at all. (Exception: Braden Smith).

Because we are 2-0 and ranked in top 10 with all our warts. Says a lot about where our program has gotten as far as national recognition.

This is true. I remember when Auburn had a perception with the pollsters that seemed like we had to do more than lots of other programs to get respect and move up in polls.

Thanks for the link.

He speaks out of both sides of his mouth. On one hand he talks about people complaining about 2-0 and in the top 10, not understanding why people complain.

THEN 30seconds later he proceeds to talk about the poor o-line play, inconsistent QB play, running game etc.

So, he just loves to bitch.

Eh, I get what he's saying, but we're not bitching about how we should have beaten Tulane 62-0 since we're "a top 10 team".

We're unhappy because we see clear deficiencies in our offense and special teams play that will certainly lead to losses down the road against our tougher opponents. The fact that we're 2-0 and in the top 10 doesn't mean a damn thing unless we improve in those areas (which, in terms of OL play, doesn't seem likely).

This is my biggest issue. It's hard to stay positive because the potential is obvious, but so are the issues. Many of them have been the same for 4 seasons and there is zero indication that they will change. That is why I am not only off the Gus bus, but also throwing bricks at it from the overpass.
