My Grandfather recruited the 1957 National Championship Team.

He was on the search committee that looked past Vince Dooley, who he recruited, and suggested Pat Dye.

Some of us have seen far worse.

They know exactly what they are doing, they just have completely different goals than the fanbase. The fans want that arse kicking, take no shite from anyone program builder, but those coaches come with very big egos and a stay the frick out of my way attitude. The AU power brokers though also have egos the size of their checkbooks and have no interest in turning over the keys to the kingdom to anyone which is why every coaching search begins and ends with us digging through another program’s trash heap for a HC. Hell will freeze over twice before you ever see a legitimate HC at the helm of the program

When we hired Harsin, we had a top 20 roster. Easily if not higher.

You’re romanticizing Gus’s legacy. The roster Gus left behind was total dog shite. Recruiting classes were filled with overinflated rankings of skill guys. We were not able to recruit any lineman.

Harsin took a bad situation, made it worse. He made Auburn one of the 3 worst performing teams in the SEC.

I don’t know what the hell is going on with Freeze.

Shouldn't it be painfully obvious the cancer is messing with his abilities?

BS

You don’t know a thing about coach searches at Auburn.

Don’t step off the edge and eliminate credibility while trying to make a modern point.

You lost your point decades ago.

Not picking on you…..cautioning

Gus left Harsin a clearly functioning defense (why else do you think some were trying to push Steele into the HC position), a great RB (Tank Bigsby), and a QB who would soon after go on to become a Heisman finalist and 1st round draft pick. That is ~2/3rds of a winning football team by itself.

You are talking out of your arse. All Harsin had to do was import a few transfer portal linemen and a WR or two and it is an easy ~9 wins with competent coaching and game planning. That is literally what Mike Norvell did when he had Jordan Travis, and they went from 5-7 to 10-3 and 13-1 overnight.

The fact that Bo Nix turned into an elite QB as soon as he stepped foot at Oregon is proof that he was simply being held back by scheme/coaching at Auburn. Which means that Harsin had every opportunity to flip the switch with him like Oregon did.

bullshite. Roster was short in some areas but overall very good. Harsin was just a dick and ran them all off

More stupidity. Its easy to see. He cant fricking coach. That is whats wrong with him. Same thing that was wrong with him since he stepped on campus and had the two worse losses in most of our lifetimes

Yup, its a wild statement.

Harsin inherited Nix and Bigsby (a 1st and 3rd round NFL draft pick) and a defense that was 4th in the SEC in scoring the season prior. Nix was even an experienced QB having already been a two year starter.

All he had to do was put Nix in the correct offensive system and stick a few transfer portal pieces around him. Gus was 6-4 in an All-SEC schedule the year prior when he was fired, which is a 9-win season in a normal year with the allotted cupcakes.

I think the issue is the good coaches turned us down because we're toxic. I think Sark probably did, Venables, Kiffin

Good gosh...

Sark undoubtably knew he was going to Texas, as Tom Herman was fired with no warning and Sark was immediately hired. Even if we offered Sark ....we lost out to Texas... oh my gosh our boosters suck.

Easily could not have offered him, as , to put it mildly, his last head coaching stint didn't turn out well.

Kiffin is dvorced and his kids like Ole Miss... again our boosters suck.

Coaching at Auburn would have been terrible for his sobriety.
