I wish there were a couple of more food and bar places in Dauphin Island but I agree, it's a nice quiet place. We go there for the holidays when visiting my parents in Mobile.
Yea, my wife is big on going out to dinner on vacation. Id just as well grill or eat at the vacation rental and go out once or twice but she loves to go out... That were her only complaint was there were very few restaurants close and no nice ones.

The Audubon Bird Sanctuary is pretty cool. It was nice to see some different species that I can't see here in Tennessee.

Islanders is a good choice. Skinners will steam fresh seafood to order to go. Both solid choices.

my wife’s cousin worked at the Sea Lab there for many years, we spent quite a lot of time at his place when our kids were growing up
he retired early, sold his house and moved to Pensacola but dropped dead of a heart attack mowing his backyard about a year later, left us a lot on the island we still own
we go there a couple of times a year just to check on things, last time we had a nice lunch and drinks at Pirates Bar & Grill, don’t know about any of the other places

Hitting up a couple of restaurants / bars / happy hours this weekend with burgers, corn and salad either Sunday or Monday. About to go plant some Autumn Ferns in the front yard and let the games begin!

I am putting a few racks of country ribs in the smoker and trying a new recipe for barbecue sauce. I am serving potato salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, corn on the cob, garlic bread, and watermelon to go with them. I hope all members of the Auburn family have a wonderful weekend.

man I love country ribs - I have no idea what they are and they might be something like a pork chop but I've been eating them since I was a kid and you don't see them on the menu at BBQ restaurants, mostly.

They tend to have more meat than spareribs or babyback ribs. Can be tough if not cooked low and slow.

Took the day off to take the wife and my son off shore for a half day. We headed out at 6am and finally got out about 20 miles. Landed on them for about 3-4 hours. It was a little rougher than forecasted this morning. Boat was rocking pretty good . My son (autistic 23 year old) started feeling bad so we were going to head back in. Fish box was pretty stuffed anyway.
Starting battery was dead. Too weak to start the engine. I knew they had to be getting close as they have been in my boat since I bought it. I replaced my trolling batteries with lithium but my house and starting batterys are still just lead acid.
I am known to be prepared with my boat and today was no different. My $100 lithium jump box from Amazon saved or asses. Jumped the enine off and rolled back in. Just placed a order for 2, 100ah Power House lithium starting batteries
Washed the boat at the storage facility and came home to hit the pool for a few hours. Made us some margaritas and the wife ordered us a pizza. LOL
Staying in the rest of the weekend. Pool, outdoor kitchen and relaxation. Been working 75 hours a week the past few weeks and I am just exhausted.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Just finished cooking some myself on the stove top. Took a large one and made taco's out of it. Think carnitas and slow cooked. The rest will go camping this weekend and will be real tasty (and fast) once on the grill with some BBQ sauce. Planning on corn on the cob and John's slaw. Have a bottle of their sauce so we'll throw everything together fast after a day of whitewater.
First watermelon of the year, so it might not be the best, but it won't truly matter.

Headed out to the Caribbean for a 7-day cruise - Port Canaveral-Bahamas-St.Thomas-Sint Maarten. Never been out there and looking forward to some snorkeling and sunning and enjoying all the attractions onboard.
Hope y’all have a good Memorial Day weekend and prayers for those soldiers MIA/KIA.

We caught snapper that we kept. Mangrove and some grays. Also had 2 triggerfish keepers had 6 grouper that almost touched the line but threw them back. Wife had a monster red grouper that broke off right at the boat. Going to cook some of the fillets on my griddle tonight.

How’d that snapper look when you cut and cleaned it?
Love mangroves

Hope you all are having a little time off and enjoying the weekend. Summer is here.
Enjoy every day you have above ground. There is no set time on it.
