Yes I agree. Talent is talent. Coaching is coaching. Either you, as a coach, are an effective evaluator of said talent and can match it with schemes or you cannot. This was my concern with the Harsin hire because if he could not get it done with BS in the MWC how in the world could he be expected to get it done here at Auburn in the SEC. He has zero networks and connections here in the South. Just my two cents.

Also “several starters on D” There’s a reason we had to poach kids from Kansas and the FCS. There have been three returning players that have been really good. Wooden, McClain, and McCreary. Other than them most of our impact players on defense have been transfers.
Like allin said, we went 6-5 last year and have consistently lost 4+ games. This is going to be a process. The fans are going to give Harsin time to fix it but our opinion holds far less weight than many on here think. It’s just a matter of if the administration is going to give him a shot at fixing it.

Some people on here wanted Sark after dark, how’s that working out for Texas? As for me Freeze was top of my list followed by Lane train and then Cristobal. With that being said I believe Harsin is a good hire and it’s going to take time to get the right pieces in place.

The real problem is that we allowed forty unanswered points and blew a huge lead in our home stadium. If that didn’t happen, you wouldn’t have had to make this post. It’s ok to be a little upset at such a massive failure of a game.

It’s real easy to see how we lead the nation in Dead Money championships. FIRE GUS for consecutive mediocre seasons, hire someone that can’t recruit nor coach. All he can do is be a dick.

I will agree that the team last night should have never given up 40 points AT HOME without stopping the onslaught and answering with some points to finally put them away.
That really bothers me the most.
But I'm not going to lump that problem in with the recruiting and the coaches issues some are adding in. These coordinators were well thought of and had very good pedigrees coming in. It's not like we were bring Harsin' whole staff over from Boise. Mason had great cred and Bobo a very solid offensive scheme. And they know the south so we think they can still bring in the recruits.
BUT this is Harsin's first year. We have to see if he can produce top level classes for 23, and a better offense and defense than we have. Regardless of how we were ranking in recruiting(14th), we showed signs of better play with Bo improving and winning on the road.
Look at what happened to Texas. lost to a horrible Kansas team at home. Have now lost 5 in a row for the first time in over 50 years, with a coach with a much better offensive rep and coaching edperience than Harsin. It happens.
And Miss St is NO pushover. They have won on the road now 3 times this year against ranked teams. They have been jekyl and Hyde all year. They were that even in 1 game.
Their coach has pulled out games just like this many times over his career. Unfortunately we were the latest victim. (I hate having to write that line) :)
But we have to see if this staff can do it.
And i agree. We did choke. No other way to look at it...

How many first year head coaches at Auburn lost after going up by 25? None.
We deserved to lose to Georgia State on top of that.
AND our recruiting is second to last place in the conference.
