I kind of figured our initial offer is in the 9-9.5 per year.

Honestly I’m surprised they did not go to $10M.

Kiffin’s base is $7.25M from his new contract last year so it doesn’t double it.

The dumbest take that fans believe is that alpha HC's like coaching at jobs where they have little competition.

Nothing about Dabo is alpha

Hoke posted an update to the board and it has Luke Fickell right behind Kiffin. He has mentioned that there is increased chatter there in the chance that Kiffin is a no-go.

We’ll this coincides what PM said about Freeze and Deion not being serious candidates

Will Fickell have the recruiting juice though?

From everything I've heard/read about Fickell, yes.

He gets that you have to do the little things to make a program successful.

IIRC, he was a major recruiter on the early Urban classes, along with the players he grabbed while still working for Tressel.

I'm a big believer in Fickell but hard to see us hiring him. After the last hire being an outsider (read: no SEC experience) and failing miserable it's hard to see the boosters getting on board with Fickell. Now, if Cohen truly has full autonomy to go get the best guy available maybe it wouldn't matter. I'm just skeptical.

As others have said, and as we've hashed out here, I just don't think Kiffin's salary is the issue

He can’t build the team he wants there. NIL sucks, facilities are behind, overall support of the football program is behind and evident in their turnout on gameday. He’s done an amazing job for what he’s working with honestly. But yeah he wants out of there regardless of money

I’m not talking about down the road. I don’t doubt he can recruit, but he doesn’t have the relationships built to make a big move this signing class is what I’m asking.

PM said Cohen wouldn’t hire anyone that doesn’t have SEC experience. Someone probably slid Fickells name in for optics and to add pressure on Kiffin

Page 300 and we’re still a week from thanksgiving. Next week will do numbies.

I’m not fickle on Fickell but some are. He would be a great hire.

He would leave for a job back up that way though. Day goes to the NFL, he's off to Ohio State

The last hire failed because he thought he could just ball coach his way out of problems. He didn't go to the fundraising events, he rarely, if ever, stepped foot on HS Campuses, and he didn't do the things necessary for a HC to do to be successful at this level.

Nick Saban had zero SEC experience before he got to LSU.

Also, I double checked on Fickell's recruiting while at OSU. He regularly recruited FL and GA while he was there. Pulled Joey Bosa out of Florida, along with Raekwon McMillan as well.

Seems like nobody has ever had any problems recruiting to LSU or Alabama. So I believe the "outsider" (who can coach) has a better chance of working at UA or LSU.

Not to say that Fickell can't work, but I think you are taking at least some risk.

I'm gonna ask this question again:

How confident are you that Kiffin comes to the plains after these few days
